Carlo Ancelotti's side are going through a disappointing season having lost against Arsenal in the Champions League quarterfinal.
The Spanish giants are also struggling in the La Liga title race with Barcelona currently the outstanding favourites to win the league.
Ancelotti's side are now focusing on their summer transfer window as they aim to strengthen their squad after their poor season.
Real Madrid are considering a move to sign Pau Torres from Aston Villa in the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Fichajes.
The 28-year-old Spanish international has attracted attention from the La Liga giants as they look to bolster their defensive options.
Torres joined Aston Villa from Villarreal in July 2023 and has since made over 50 appearances for the Premier League club, contributing two goals and three assists.
His performances have been instrumental in Villa's defensive solidity, and his experience in both La Liga and the Premier League makes him an appealing target for Real Madrid.
The central defensive player is a regular starter for Unai Emery's Aston Villa side and he is a key member of the squad.
Real Madrid need more depth in their defensive positions
Madrid's interest in Torres comes amid concerns over their current defensive lineup.
Injuries to key players like David Alaba and Eder Militao this season have exposed the need for reinforcements.
Additionally, with Alaba and Antonio Rudiger both over 30, and Jesss Vallejo's future at the club uncertain, the signing of a reliable centre-back is a priority.
Torres's familiarity with La Liga, having spent several seasons with Villarreal, would likely ease his transition back to Spanish football.
However, securing Torres's signature may not be straightforward.
Aston Villa, under manager Emery, view him as a key component of their squad and may be reluctant to sell unless presented with a compelling offer.
In addition to Torres, Real Madrid are also monitoring other defensive talents, including Antonio Silva of Benfica, as they aim to strengthen their backline for the future.
Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is another Premier League player being linked with a move to the Spanish giants.
