
La liga
inglesa ha desarrollado un plan para reanudar la temporada: jugar sin público y
en estados neutrales. Aston Villa, Brighton y Watford se han opuesto.
Bundesliga
oficializó que volver a jugar el sábado 16 de mayo. La Liga de España y la
Serie A ya han comenzado a volver a entrenarse, aunque el anuncio de la
reanudación de la temporada todavía no tiene fecha. Una misma visión está
asomando en las autoridades de la Primeira Liga de Portugal, que también
reanudaría sus actividades en los próximos días.
Por su parte,
Premier League tiene la misma intención que el resto de las ligas mencionadas,
pero con un plan muy particular: jugar a puertas cerradas, como todos, pero en
un selecto grupo de estadios neutrales para evitar los largos viajes y hacer
que los partidos puedan ser más estrechos en el calendario. No obstante, parece
que esta opción podría ser más difícil de ejecutarse.
No todos los
clubes están a favor. Particularmente, Aston Villa, Brighton y Watford están
opuestos a este plan. ¿Es suficiente esto para impedir el regreso a la
competencia? No. Con la aprobación de 14 clubes sobre 20 ya se daría luz verde
al proyecto. Sí, basta con cuatro equipos que tomen la misma mirada para
detener todo.
El úlimo en
manifestar fue Watford, que lo hizo en la voz de su presidente Scott Duxbury,
quien dio la opinión del club a través de un comunicado. "Los críticos
dirán que mi posición se basa en mi propio interés y tendrían razón. Tengo el
deber de proteger a mi club y a las personas que emplea. No hay altruismo en la
Premier League. Hay 20 intereses distintos que a veces se alinean y, en la
mayoría de veces, lo hacen para porteger a su club", argumentó.
Por último,
sentenció: "Ahora se nos dice que no podremos jugar nuestros partidos de
local en Vicarage Road. Con todos estos riesgos para la salud, se nos pide que
terminemos la competición que no se parece a la que empezamos, que podría
terminar con un equipo pequeño como el Watford fuera de la Premier League. ¿Es
justo? Claro que no".
