El coronavirus lo paró todo. Ni la sociedad, ni la economía ni, por supuesto, el fútbol han sido ajenos al virus. La mayoría de los torneos alrededor del mundo se han tenido que parar pero muchos de ellos ya trabajan en los escenarios y fechas para su vuelta. La UEFA por ejemplo está manos a la obra para que regresen la Champions y la Europa League.
La Bundesliga ya tiene fecha de vuelta, el 16 de mayo y La Liga trabaja para volver en junio y acabar a final de julio. La UEFA dejará que estos torneos acaben y no reanudará sus competiciones en agosto, tal y como ha explicado el presidente del Getafe, Ángel Torres.
El dirigente azulón ha explicado que el plan que les ha comunicado la UEFA es que la eliminatoria de octavos de final ante el Inter que se suspendió en marzo pase a disputarse entre 2 y el 7 de agosto.
"Jugaríamos el 2-3 de agosto en Italia y el 6-7 del mismo mes en Madrid. Si no se pudiera, se buscaría un campo neutral. La UEFA necesita fijar el calendario de las eliminatorias que quedan. La UEFA es la que mejor que se ha portado. Aquí teníamos que jugar por narices. Eso se explicará bien algún día", explicó en la Cope.
Las declaraciones de Torres coinciden con la información que fue publicada en Italia y que publicaba todo el calendario de reanudación de Champions y Europa League. De acuerdo con la información del rotativo italiano la Champions se reanudaría el 8 de agosto con los 4 partidos que aún deben disputarse de octavos de final y acabaría el 29 del mismo mes con la final que tendrá lugar en Estambul, tal y como estaba previsto.
Por su parte, la Europa League volvería el 2 ó 3 de agosto con la ida de los octavos entre Sevilla y Roma e Inter y Getafe que se suspendieron y la final quedaría para el 27 de agosto en Gdansk (Polonia). La idea de la UEFA es que el arranque de las ediciones de la temporada 2020-21 se retrasen hasta el 20 de octubre.
