El

reconoció que no descarta irse del club inglés ante la sanción de UEFA.
Antes que se
expanda el coronavirus en prácticamente todo el mundo y obligue a la detención
de todas las actividades no esenciales -lógicamente dentro de las que se
encuentra el fútbol-, Manchester City había recibido una histórica sanción por
parte de UEFA por incumplir las normas del Fair Play Financiero. A mediados de
febrero, el ente madre del fútbol europeo le había suspendido al club inglés
por dos años de jugar competiciones continentales.
Fue antes que los
Ciudadanos ganen un partido histórico en el Santiago Bernabéu ante Real Madrid
por la ida de los octavos de final de la Champions y todavía más antes en el
tiempo que se suspendan los torneos debido al COVID-19. Desde UEFA siguen con
la idea de terminar la temporada 2019/20 y no caer en las recientes decisiones
de Holanda y Francia, que suspendieron los certamenes.
En las últimas
horas, Kevin De Bruyne habló sobre su futuro en el City en una entrevista con
HLN, donde justamente le preguntaron por la incertidumbre que genera en los
futbolistas del club inglés el hecho de no jugar Champions la temporada
2020/21: "Dos años sin fútbol europeo serían muy largos. El club nos ha
dicho que va a apelar y que está casi cien por ciento seguro de que tiene
razón".
Además, agregó
respecto al futuro: "Por eso estoy esperando ver qué pasará. Confío en mi
equipo. Una vez hecha la declaración, revisaré todo. Dos años serían muy
largos. En el caso de ser un año podría verlo. No voy a dejar que mi decisión
dependa de lo que haga Pep. Por supuesto, ya he trabajado con otros
entrenadores y cuando Pep se va, tengo que seguir trabajando con alguien
más".
Por último,
igualmente se manifestó muy contento con el City: "En los últimos años, y
antes también, ha habido muchos equipos que han preguntado. Pero para ser
honesto, estoy muy feliz con City. Juego para uno de los mejores equipos del
mundo, juego en Inglaterra, la liga más competitiva, y eso me gusta. Sigue
siendo un desafío ser el mejor y yo también lo necesito. Lo que viene, viene.
Pero no es que haya tratado de abandonar City en esos cinco años. También me he
mantenido tranquilo para mis transferencias anteriores. Nunca he tenido ningún
problema y siempre he esperado mi momento".
