El Ajax entiende que no le 'hagan' campeón: Van der Sar dice que es "comprensible"

El director general del Ajax, Edwin van der Sar, calificó como "comprensible" que la Real Federación Neerlandesa de Fútbol haya declarado desierta la Eredivisie 2019/20, cancelada por el coronavirus, a pesar de que el equipo de Ámsterdam iba líder.


"Es una lástima que no se declare ningún campeón, pero en esta situación tal vez sea comprensible. Hay cosas mucho más importantes que el fútbol en este momento", dijo Van der Sar a la cadena del club, Ajax Tv.


"Siempre quieres ser campeón, serlo en el campo, y hemos estado en la cima todo el año", añadió.


A falta de nueve jornadas para el final, el Ajax y el AZ Alkmaar estaban empatados a 56 puntos en el liderato, pero los de Ámsterdam iban líderes gracias a una mejor diferencia de goles en el global de la temporada a pesar de que el AZ ganó los dos partidos de la competición al conjunto de Erik Ten Hag. No obstante, la federación ha colocado al Ajax en el primer puesto para acceder a la Liga de Campeones, por encima del AZ Alkmaar. Eso significa que los hombres de Erik ten Hag entrarán directamente en la máxima competición europea, sin necesidad de jugar la fase previa, siempre y cuando el ganador de esta edición de la Champions se clasifique a través de su liga nacional.


Por otro lado, Van der Sar avisó de que "es muy probable" que los primeros partidos de la temporada 2020/21 de la Eredivisie se jueguen sin público. "Eso tendrá un gran impacto en todos los clubes holandeses, incluido el Ajax", añadió.
