En los próximos días, la FIFA hará llegar a las federaciones todos los fondos pendientes destinados a cubrir gastos operativos de los años 2019 y 2020. Se trata de la primera fase del plan de ayuda a la comunidad futbolística afectada por la pandemia. Gracias a esta medida se distribuirán unos 140 millones de euros entre los 211 órganos rectores del fútbol de cada país.
«La pandemia ha provocado dificultades sin precedentes para toda la comunidad futbolística y, como órgano rector mundial, la FIFA tiene el deber de apoyar a aquellos que más lo necesiten -declaró el presidente de la FIFA Gianni Infantino-. Lo primero es prestar apoyo económico de forma inmediata a nuestras federaciones miembro, ya que muchas están teniendo graves problemas en este ámbito. Se trata de la primera fase de un plan de apoyo económico de gran alcance que estamos desarrollando para dar respuesta a la situación de emergencia que vive la comunidad futbolística global. En colaboración con nuestros grupos de interés, estamos evaluando las pérdidas y trabajando en los mecanismos de respuesta más adecuados y efectivos a fin de implementarlos en las próximas fases del plan de ayuda».
En circunstancias normales, las federaciones miembro de la FIFA solo recibirían el total de fondos tras haber cumplido con criterios específicos; sin embargo, en este caso la FIFA los transferirá como una medida de apoyo activo, a fin de salvaguardar el fútbol en todas las federaciones miembro.
Esto significa que, en los próximos días, cada federación miembro recibirá 460.000 euros y los fondos pendientes de pago de 2019 y 2020.
