Los veinte clubes de la Premier League recibirán un porcentaje del dinero que les corresponde al terminar la temporada, según acordaron en una reunión la pasada semana, informó el periódico británico 'The Times'. Este dinero iría en relación a la actual posición en la tabla.
De esta manera, se intentará paliar el periodo sin ingresos al que se enfrentan los clubes mientras el fútbol esté parado. Las competiciones se suspendieron hace un mes y no hay una fecha exacta para su vuelta, después de que se desestimase hace escasos días el retorno para el 30 de abril.
El resto del dinero que corresponde a los clubes lo recibirán cuando se termine la temporada.
'Players together'
Los jugadores de la Premier League se han unido en la iniciativa "Players Together" (Jugadores Unidos) para recaudar fondos con los que ayudar al sistema sanitario público del Reino Unido, el NHS, durante la pandemia de coronavirus. La iniciativa está liderada por el capitán del Liverpool, Jordan Henderson, junto a otros capitanes de la Premier y después de varios días de conversaciones han llegado a un acuerdo.
Más de 150 jugadores de la Premier lanzaron un comunicado en el que aseguraron que buscan "ayudar, como tantos otros en el país, para lograr hacer una diferencia". "Es un momento crítico para el país y para el NHS y vamos a ayudar de la manera que podamos", dijeron los futbolistas en el comunicado.
Estas contribuciones ayudarán, en primera instancia, a apoyar al personal en primera línea, "mejorando el bienestar de los trabajadores del NHS, de los voluntarios y de los pacientes".
El secretario de sanidad del Gobierno Británico, Matt Hancock, que previamente había instado a los jugadores a tomar parte en las ayudas contra el coronavirus, aseguró que es una iniciativa con "mucho corazón".
Mientras tanto, los clubes siguen negociado con sus jugadores las posibles reducciones de sueldo de cara al resto de la temporada, al llevar el fútbol parado un mes, con los consiguientes problemas económicos que esto genera.
