presidente de la Federación de Fútbol de Inglaterra (FA), expresó este martes
su temor a que clubs de todo el país desaparezcan si su economía entra en
quiebra por el impacto de la pandemia del coronavirus, al mismo tiempo que
desaparezcan ligas.
Estas
declaraciones de Clarke se producen mientras los clubs aún no han podido llegar
a un acuerdo con la PFA (la asociación de futbolistas profesionales, el
sindicato de jugadores) en relación con la reducción de sus salarios para
ayudar a los clubs mientras estén los campeonatos suspendidos a causa del
coronavirus. El propio Gobierno es crítico con que dicho acuerdo no haya tenido
lugar todavía.
En Inglaterra, la
reducción de sueldos es el debate que está sobre la mesa desde hace semanas.
Tras varias reuniones entre los organismos que rigen el fútbol inglés, la
Premier pidióa los clubs que rebajen el sueldo de sus futbolistas un 30 por
ciento. Pero no hay acuerdo. La PFA indicó que dicha rebaja sería perjudicial
para el sistema sanitario británico.
Si la PFA no
alcanza un acuerdo con los clubs, serán estos los que tendrán que negociar
directamente con sus jugadores. Solo algunos clubs de Segunda han llevado a
cabo acciones por su cuenta. Los jugadores y el cuerpo técnico del Leeds, al
que entrena Marcelo Bielsa, decidieron voluntariamente rebajarse el sueldo,
mientras que a los del Birmingham City se les pidió que se lo recortaran en un
50 por ciento.

fútbol se enfrenta a retos económicos más allá de la imaginación más salvaje.
La pandemia irá seguida de unas consecuencias económicas que sufrirán todos los
sectores”, aseguró Clarke en un discurso ante el Consejo de la FA.

categorías de la Football League (Segunda, Tercera y Cuarta) están suspendidas
