El jugador del
Vitebsk, que ganó este domingo al Smolevichi ((0-1): "Mi familia está
preocupada. Pero la verdad es que Brasil es mucho más peligroso".
Mientras todos
los futbolistas latinoamericanos que militan en Europa descansan, un puñado de
brasileños sigue saltando al terreno de juego todos los fines de semana en la
liga bielorrusa. Uno de ellos es Julio César, el central del Vitebsk, epicentro
de la epidemia en Bielorrusia, la única liga en marcha del continente. "No
tengo elección. Si hay que jugar, se juega", comentó a Efe en conversación
telefónica.
Julio César ya ha
disputado con su equipo los tres primeros partidos del campeonato bielorruso,
que es seguido por decenas de millones de aficionados en todo el mundo debido
al parón del resto de torneos. Este domingo volvió a jugar, se enfrentó al
Smolevichi (0-1), que debía jugar de visitante, pero que finalmente jugó de
local en un campo neutral. El caso es que el encuentro debía disputarse en
Vítebsk, ciudad que se encuentra muy cerca de la frontera con Rusia, pero el
club pidió que el encuentro se jugara en otro estadio alternativo. ¿El motivo?
El mal estado del terreno de juego y la nieve, un argumento que convenció a
pocos, teniendo en cuenta que fuentes independientes hablan de más de un millar
de contagios en la región, cuando el Gobierno central reconoce menos de 400 en
todo el país.
La Federación
Internacional de Futbolistas profesionales se ha quejado amargamente y esta
semana se le han sumado las agrupaciones de aficionados de varios clubes
bielorrusos, que han decidido boicotear los partidos de sus equipos, pero el
presidente de la Federación de Fútbol Bielorrusa dejó bien claro que había que
seguir jugando. "Confiamos completamente en nuestro sistema sanitario.
Comprendemos que en algunos países la situación es muy grave...pero, en realidad,
la situación en Bielorrusia no es tan crítica como para suspender el torneo", declaró
Serguéi Zhardetski, presidente de FFB. Admitió que la repentina popularidad del
fútbol bielorruso es positiva, ya que algunos países han comprado los derecho
televisivos del campeonato.
Por todo ello, el
defensa brasileño no sólo tiene que fajarse con los defensas, sino también con
ese enemigo invisible, el COVID-19: "No tengo miedo, pero hay que ser
prudente".
Julio César
reconoce que la situación ha cambiado en los últimos días: "Hay mucha
gente con mascarillas y cada vez menos personas en la calle". De hcho, en
la ciudad han aparecido pintadas con cifras de muertos por coronavirus que
superan la veintena, aunque las autoridades sólo han reconocido 8 muertos y 500
contagios en todo el país.
El brasileño
prefiere no opinar sobre si es correcto jugar al fútbol cuando miles de
personas están muriendo de coronavirus en los países vecinos, aunque insiste en
que la salud es lo primero y el fútbol después. "Mi familia está preocupada.
Pero la verdad es que Brasil es mucho más peligroso que Bielorrusia. Allí hay
muchos más casos".
Por orden del
club, apenas sale de casa más que para entrenar. Por suerte, el campo de
entrenamiento está cerca de su casa. "Nos piden que nos quedemos en casa y
nos han proporcionado mascarillas. En los partidos tampoco nos damos la mano,
pero jugamos sin mascarillas", asegura.
Julio César
comparte equipo con otros dos brasileños: el veterano centrocampista Wanderson,
que jugó antes en Suecia, y Diego Santos, que procede del Lajeadense. Además,
en el Torpedo milita otro brasileño, Gabriel Ramos, que recaló en Bielorrusia
tras jugar en el Dinamo Batumi, otro equipo de la antigua Unión Soviética.
"Algunos futbolistas no quieren jugar", confiesa, sin dar nombres.
En cuanto a los
aficionados, como la asistencia media a los partidos es de un millar de
aficionados, la FFB intenta que los asistentes a los estadios mantengan una
distancia de seguridad.
