La temporada
2019/20 de la Serie A podría terminar en octubre, según Gabriele Gravina,
presidente de la Federación Italiana de Fútbol. El mismo organismo había
planteado el viernes que la competencia no se reanudaría hasta que la salud y
la seguridad de todos los involucrados pudieran garantizarse.
Italia es el país
más afectado por COVID-19 en Europa, con cerca de 129,000 casos confirmados y
más de 15,800 muertes, aunque las cifras oficiales de los últimos días
indicaron que las medidas estrictas de bloqueo están teniendo un efecto en la
propagación del virus.
Gravina dice que
la fecha propuesta del 17 de mayo para reiniciar la Serie A sigue siendo una
posibilidad, pero insiste en que sería mejor permitir que se termine mucho más
tarde si es necesario, en lugar de cancelar la temporada. "Es una
hipótesis", dijo a la RAI cuando se le preguntó si se había presentado un
final de septiembre u octubre. "En este momento, una posible fecha para
reiniciar podría ser el 17 de mayo, pero quiero aclarar que esto es solo una
hipótesis".
"Terminar la
temporada sería la mejor manera no solo para que la temporada 2019-20 no se vea
comprometida, sino también para evitar comprometer la temporada 2020-21 de
alguna manera", continuó la autoridad.
Hay indicios de
que las estrictas medidas de Italia para imponer el distanciamiento social y
limitar todos los viajes no esenciales están funcionando, con la cantidad de
nuevas muertes disminuyendo en los últimos tres días, mientras que la tasa de
nuevos casos confirmados también parece disminuir.
Sin embargo, el
primer ministro Giuseppe Conte admitió el domingo que no puede ofrecer ninguna
garantía de cuando se aliviarán las medidas de cierre. "En este momento,
no puedo decir cuándo terminará el cierre. Estamos siguiendo las instrucciones
del comité
científico, pero Italia fue la primera nación (en Europa) en enfrentar la
emergencia", dijo el mandatario.
"Nuestra
respuesta tal vez no fue perfecta, pero hemos hecho nuestro mejor esfuerzo en
base al conocimiento que tenemos. La validez de las medidas que hemos tomado ha
sido reconocida por la Organización Mundial de la Salud y los resultados
indican que estamos en el camino correcto", cerró.
