La gran
esperanza de los 'reds' cumple hoy 17 años. Ya ha jugado siete partidos esta
temporada. Ha batido varios récords de precocidad.
En el Liverpool
tienen bien asegurado el futuro. Si en el presente ya se han confirmado como
uno de los equipos más temibles de Europa, los próximos años también prometen
victorias. La nueva camada de jugadores ya está llamando a la puerta de Jürgen
Klopp y quien más fuerte lo hace responde al nombre de Harvey Elliott (4 de
abril de 2003), que hoy cumple 17 años.
A pesar de su
juventud ya lleva más de un año sonando entre todos los aficionados del fútbol
inglés, pues su debut oficial con el Fulham en un partido de Copa se produjo
con 15 años. Unos meses más tarde, en la última jornada de la pasada Premier
League, se estrenó en competición liguera a los 16 años y 30 días y se
convirtió en el futbolista más joven de la historia en hacerlo batiendo el
anterior récord en más de un mes.
Elliott fue
protagonista durante el verano. Al no haber firmado ningún contrato profesional
con el Fulham, todos los grandes equipos se echaron encima de él. Terminó
aceptando la propuesta del Liverpool, club de su infancia: lo colocaban
directamente en el filial mientras que Klopp le daría oportunidades sueltas a
lo largo de la temporada. Y así ha sido.
Durante el curso
2019/20, Harvey Elliott ha disputado un total de siete partidos con el
Liverpool, se ha estrenado en la Premier League y estuvo en el banquillo en la
final del Mundial de Clubes contra el Flamengo. Por el camino ha batido unos
cuantos récords: el de futbolista más joven en ser titular en un encuentro
oficial del primer equipo (16 años y 174 días contra el MK Dons) y el de más
joven del club en un partido de FA Cup (16 años, 9 meses y 1 día contra el
Everton).
"No está demasiado lejos de asentarse con
los mayores ya que entrena cada día con la primera plantilla. Ya ha tenido
exposición al primer nivel y tanto el entrenador como su staff piensan mucho en
él", explicaba Neil Critchley, entrenador del segundo equipo red.
Harvey Elliott
también lidera la generación Sub-17 de Inglaterra, a pesar de que el Europeo de
este año ha quedado suspendido. Sin embargo, parece que no durará mucho en esa
categoría. Si todo sigue su ritmo, Elliott no necesitará una cesión para acabar
de formarse. "Es fácil que convencerse cuando lo ves entrenar", dijo
Klopp.
