En una
entrevista para ZDF, el presidente de la UEFA puso plazo para que la máxima
competició continental acabe.
El aumento de
casos por coronavirus ha hecho que la enfermedad alcance el grado de pandemia,
y, como consecuencia, todas las competiciones deportivas en Europa se hayan
paralizado, sin tener fecha de vuelta.
Una de esas
competiciones paradas es la UEFA Champions League. La UEFA, máximo organismo
del fútbol a nivel europeo, la suspendió 'sinedie' hasta nuevo aviso. Eso sí,
tiene un límite: el 3 de agosto. Antes de esa fecha, tiene que acabar, según su

El máximo
dirigente del fútbol europeo concedió una entrevista a la televisión alemana
ZDF y dejó claro que después del 3 del octavo mes del año no puede terminar la
máxima competición continental, con todo en el aire.
"Se puede
jugar con el sistema actual o hacerlo a un solo partido con sorteo entre jugar
en casa o fuera o en campo neutral. Por ahora es sólo teórico que se pueda
jugar una ‘final a ocho’ o una ‘final a cuatro’. El 3 de agosto debe estar todo
acabado, tanto Champions como Europa League. La situación es extraordinaria.
Podremos jugar en las mismas fechas que los campeonatos locales, a la misma
hora, debemos ser flexibles. Si la crisis se detiene, empezaremos antes",
expresó.
Esto es, que las
máximas competiciones, tanto la Champions como la Europa League deben acabar,
como máximo, en el próximo mes de julio. Además, dio prioridad a la salud por
encima todo, como no puede ser de otra manera en este tipo de situaciones.
"La única
decisión equivocada sería jugar de forma que se pusiera en riesgo la salud de
jugadores, aficionados, árbitros...Pero si es seguro y la salud no está en
peligro no veo problema. El deporte trae energía, necesitamos el deporte. La
gente está nerviosa y ansiosa. El fútbol es una industria seria, importa a las
personas, aunque los superstars en estos momentos son los médicos y las
enfermeras", analizó.
"Tenemos
diferentes planes para reiniciar la Champions y la Europa League en mayo,
junio, julio o si no volvemos a jugar. Existe un grupo de trabajo entre UEFA,
ligas y clubes. Si las autoridades no nos permiten jugar, no podremos hacerlo.
Dependemos de los Gobiernos nacionales. De todas formas es mejor a puerta
cerrada y con televisión, el fútbol es lo que la gente quiere", comentaba
Ceferin.
Por otro lado,
también fue cuestionado por la parcela económica. Con el fútbol paralizado, los
clubes e instituciones pueden perder mucho dinero asignado a varios conceptos,
como es el caso de los derechos de televisión.
"La UEFA
tiene un fondo de 600 millones de euros en caja; si no lo tuviéramos estaríamos
mal. Hemos demostrado solidaridad y lo seguiremos haciendo. Tenemos también
grandes gastos por el cambio de la Eurocopa al año próximo", garantizó.
Sobre la decisión
de Bélgica de suspender su liga, Ceferin afirmó que "el Comité Ejecutivo
de la UEFA podría decidir que, habiendo terminado la temporada prematuramente,
no hay campeón ni equipos clasificados. No veo por qué han tenido tanta prisa en
decidir algo así, podrían haber esperado a finales de abril y después decidir.
Debemos decidir juntos, unidos y mostrar solidaridad. Las decisiones parciales
o egoístas no van bien”.
