La decisión de la liga belga de dar por concluida la competición y proclamar como campeón al Brujas ha levantado mucha incertidumbre en los clubes europeos. Las dudas sobre la evolución de la pandemia del coronavirus siguen planeando sobre la organización del fútbol y el ejemplo belga ha corrido hoy como la pólvora. La UEFA habría tratado de calmar las aguas y de instar a sus miembros a que no se precipiten. Así, el organismo europeo ha remitido, horas después del anuncio belga, una carta, a la que ha tenido acceso Associated Press, firmada por él mismo, por la ECA y el conjunto de las ligas europeas. Según el artículo, AP ha tenido acceso a la misiva, en el que el objetivo fundamental es calmar a los clubes europeos asegurándoles que la temporada se va a terminar.
"Estamos seguros de que el fútbol se podrá reiniciar en los próximos meses, con condiciones que serán dictadas por las autoridades públicas", explica la citada la carta de la UEFA y la ECA. "Creemos que cualquier decisión de abandonar las competiciones nacionales es, en este momento etapa, prematura y no justificada", esgrime en clara alusión al ejemplo belga. Igualmente, se explica que la UEFA ya trabaja en un plan para reanudar el fútbol.
"El trabajo ahora se centra en escenarios que abarcan los meses de julio y agosto, incluida la posibilidad de que las competiciones de la UEFA se reinicien después de la finalización de las ligas nacionales", dice la carta enviada, poniendo el acento en la organización de los calendarios. “Se requiere estrictamente una gestión conjunta de los calendarios, ya que la conclusión de la temporada actual debe coordinarse con el inicio de la nueva, que puede verse afectada en parte debido a la sobrecarga de la que está en curso", afirma. La UEFA, la ECA y la asociación de las ligas europeas han querido ser muy contundentes en su respuesta a la decisión belga ya que detener las competiciones también pone en duda el acceso a las competiciones europeas.
Quien no acabe la liga, lo tendrá complicado para jugar en Europa.
"Dado que la participación en las competiciones de clubes de la UEFA está determinada por el resultado deportivo logrado al final de una competencia nacional completa, una finalización prematura arrojaría dudas sobre el cumplimiento de dicha condición", esgrimen. No terminar la temporada pone en riesgo el acceso a las competiciones europeas la próxima temporada, es más el máximo organismo del fútbol continental exige terminar el campeonato para poder acceder a dichas plazas. En este sentido, los equipos belgas, según se argumenta, corren ahora serio peligro de cara a la próxima temporada.
