Tanto es así que varios españoles que en su día llegaron a Inglaterra se han empapado de su cultura y hoy son los más veterano de sus respectivos clubes.
David Silva, que ya ha anunciado que se marchará del Manchester City el próximo mes de junio, es el mejor ejemplo de ello. El canario llegó en 2010 procedente del Valencia y ahora entiende que su etapa en Inglaterra ha terminado. Por el camino, ha dejado huella en el Etihad y ha sido parte importante de un equipo dominador los últimos años. Ha vestido la camiseta citizen en 424 ocasiones, con unas notables estadísticas: 74 goles y 137 asistencias.
Pese a ser cuestionado en innumerables ocasiones, Old Trafford admira y respeta a su guardián. Ya han pasado nueve años desde que De Gea fichó por el Manchester United. De hecho, es el futbolista que más tiempo lleva en el club junto a Phil Jones. Se puso los guantes en 394 ocasiones. Leighton Baines fichó por el Everton en 2007, procedente del Wigan. Desde entonces, el carril de Goodison Park es todo suyo. Ellos dos son los más veteranos, si bien el menos longevo en este estudio data de 2014: Chris Basham, del Sheffield.
