Así lo afirma en
un comunicado oficial de este viernes en el que se da respuesta a varias
preguntas.
La Eurocopa 2021,
hasta hace poco una Eurocopa 2020 que finalmente no será tal por la crisis del
coronavirus, mantendrá el formato de multisede por el que se decantó la UEFA
con el objetivo de conmemorar el 60ª aniversario de la competición. Así lo
indicó el propio organismo este viernes mediante un comunicado oficial en el
que dio respuesta a varias preguntas sobre asuntos que han quedado en el aire
debido al actual estado de excepción. “Confiamos en que todas nuestras sedes
sigan siendo las mismas, asegurando que el torneo permanezca fiel a su visión
original, que fue organizar un evento verdaderamente europeo que se ajuste al
60º aniversario de la Eurocopa”, se pudo leer en el citado comunicado.
Cabe recordar en
este sentido que en el formato original estaba previsto que un total de 12
sedes albergasen los partidos a disputar en el próximo verano. Concretamente,
el Olímpico de Roma (Italia), el Olímpico de Bakú (Azerbaiyán), el Zenit Arena
(Rusia), el Parken Stadion (Dinamarca), el Johann Cruyff Arena (Países Bajos),
el Arena Nationala (Rumanía), Wembley (Inglaterra), Hampden Park (Escocia), San
Mamés (España), el Aviva Stadium (Irlanda), el Allianz Arena (Alemania) y el
Puskas Arena (Hungría). Y la intención pasa porque estos mismos estadios sean
los que alberguen la Eurocopa aunque sea un verano más tarde de lo previsto.
Desde luego que
en el presente verano, incluso aunque la crisis del coronavirus hubiese sido
menos prolongada de lo que punta, no se antojaba nada factible por las
complicaciones logísticas de traslado de aficionados. Se espera, claro está,
que para verano de 2021 la situación haya vuelto a la normalidad. Pero por el
momento se desconocen fechas definitivas para que se dispute el torneo, y a
buen seguro que estas se verán influenciadas por el momento en el que se pueda
volver a jugar al fútbol, ya que dependiendo de cuándo sea tendrá uno u otro
efecto dominó en la temporada venidera.
