
El club
londinense registró una caída de casi 45 ‘kilos’ respecto al año anterior, aunque
su presidente Daniel Levy asegura que ahora solo le preocupa que sobrevivir a
la pandemia del coronavirus.
El Tottenham
Hotspur anunció este miércoles un aumento en los ingresos de 80 millones de
libras (unos 85,5 millones de euros) en 2019, pero el presidente Daniel Levy
dijo que las cifras eran intrascendentes en comparación con el desafío de
trabajar para garantizar que el club sobreviva a la pandemia de coronavirus.
Los Spurs
registraron ingresos de 460,7 millones de libras (491,5 M€) para el año que
finalizó el 30 de junio de 2019 y obtuvieron una ganancia de 68,6 millones de
libras (73,2 M€) después de impuestos, una caída de 44, 4 millones (47,3 M€)
del récord mundial de 113 millones de libras (120,5 M€) que el club de Londres
obtuvo el año pasado.
El aumento de los
ingresos se debió en gran medida a que el club llegó a la final de la Champions
la temporada pasada, donde se proclamó subcampeón ante el Liverpool, lo que
permitió al club acumular 108,4 millones de libras en ganancias (115,3 M€).
Los ingresos de
televisión y medios aumentaron marginalmente a 149, 9 millones de libras (159,5
M€). Mientras tanto, los ingresos por patrocinio y hospitalidad corporativa
fueron de 120,3 millones de libras (128 M€), un aumento de casi 27 millones de
libras (28,8 M€).
La apertura del
nuevo estadio, con capacidad para 62.000 aficionados, tuvo un costo total de
332 millones de libras (353 M€).
Con la Premier
League suspendida hasta el 4 de abril debido a la pandemia de coronavirus, Levy
dijo que no era el momento de prestar atención a los resultados financieros del
club, pero estaban legalmente obligados a anunciarlos antes de fin de mes.
“He
pasado casi 20 años cultivando este club y ha habido muchos obstáculos en el
camino, ninguno de esta magnitud, la pandemia de COVID-19 es la más grave de
todas”, declaró Levy en un comunicado oficial del club.
“Con
tanta incertidumbre, todos tendremos que trabajar juntos para asegurar que el
impacto de esta crisis no socave la estabilidad futura del club”, agregó el máximo
dirigente de los Spurs.
“Esto
incluirá trabajar con la industria del fútbol en general y sus partes
interesadas para tratar de restaurar la temporada, pero solo cuando sea seguro
y práctico hacerlo”, indicó.
