
El
seleccionador italiano comenta la situación que vive el fútbol a raíz del
coronavirus.
El coronavirus ha
suspendido casi por completo el fútbol europeo y amenaza la disputa de la
Eurocopa el próximo verano. Roberto Mancini, seleccionador italiano, tiene
claro que lo principal es erradicar el virus para luego poder volver a
competir.
“En
primer lugar, tenemos que proteger la salud de las personas, tenemos que
esperar al pico, luego, cuando esta situación comience a disminuir, podremos
comenzar a hablar de ello (de fútbol) y decidir todo más tarde”, indica en una
entrevista en La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Eso sí, el
transalpino no duda que “cuando todo termine, será mucho más hermoso.
Encontraremos libertad, podremos volver a los partidos en el estadio,
divertirnos”.
Acerca de la
posible suspensión de la Eurocopa, Mancini aboga por esperar. “Tenemos que
esperar el martes para ver qué decidirá la UEFA. ¿Mi sensación? No sé, el hecho
es que los problemas que tenemos ahora en otras naciones los tendrán a partir
de hoy. Esperemos y veamos qué tendremos que hacer, antes de eso hay cosas más
importantes”, resalta.
Una de las
hipótesis es jugar el Euro 2020 en noviembre, algo que serviría para preparar
mejor el Mundial de 2022 que se jugará entre noviembre y diciembre: “Estamos
listos para cualquier decisión, siempre y cuando esta agonía termine para todas
las personas que sufren”.
Mancini comenta
que los jugadores “ahora descansarán un poco. Para un profesional, es difícil
permanecer quieto por más de dos días, tendrán cintas para correr y bicicletas,
entrenarán así ahora mismo. Tendrán programas personalizados, pueden entrenar
por su cuenta, son profesionales y saben lo que hacen”.
Por último, el
seleccionador ‘azzurro’ especula con que quizás se tendrán que terminar los
campeonatos en junio o julio. “Estamos en una situación excepcional, que nunca
antes había sucedido, así que creo que, si es posible, tendrá que llegar en
junio y también en julio”.
