El exjugador
de la Roma y el Levante entre otros equipos, y ahora presidente de la
Asociación Italiana de Futbolistas cree que “es imposible” que la Serie A se reanude
en abril y no descarta que no se pueda jugar “hasta junio”.
Una de las
grandes incógnitas a nivel deportivo de la pandemia de coronavirus que ha
obligado a suspender las grandes ligas europeas y también otras repartidas por
buena parte del planeta, es saber la cuando se podrán reanudar. Una de las
primeras que paró fue la Serie A ya que Italia es el país del viejo continente
más afectado por el Covid-19. Y aunque la primera fecha posible para volver a
jugar que se estableció fue el 5 de abril, cada vez parece más improbable, por
no decir casi descartado, que el campeonato se pueda retomar tan pronto. El
exjugador de la Roma y del Levante, entre otros equipos, Damiano Tommasi,
actualmente presidente de la Asociación Italiana de Futbolistas (AIC), fue más allá
y dijo que es “claramente imposible” que el balón pueda volver a rodar en los
estadios del país transalpino el próximo mes de abril, en declaraciones al
programa ‘Che tempo che fa’ de Rai2. De hecho, Tommasi apuntó que “la esperanza
es que podamos regresar a los campos tal vez a finales de mayo o en junio”. Más
allá de esto, dejó también muy claro que ahora mismo la prioridad es otra:
“Tendremos éxito si todo va bien y si cumplimos con nuestro deber y nos
quedamos en casa”.

Tommasi también
fue muy crítico con la manera de gestionar la crisis del coronavirus por parte
de algunos clubs: “Hemos denunciado el comportamiento de algunos clubs por
muchas razones que están fuera de lugar, como querer hacer entrenar a los
jugadores estos días. Habrá tiempo para recuperarse, ahora centrémonos en
aquellos que están en hospitales y están trabajando para restaurar la seguridad
que nos falta “.
El
exinternacional italiano también quiso hacer un llamamiento a la UEFA de cara a
la reunión de este martes, por videoconferencia, con 55 representantes de las
federaciones miembro, en la que se tiene que decidir el futuro de la Eurocopa
2020, ya que de esto podría depender que se puedan finalizar o no los distintos
campeonatos: “Esperemos que la UEFA lo entienda y posponga la Eurocopa para
permitir que las ligas nacionales terminen los campeonatos. Además, el torneo
de este año tiene una fórmula especial ya que se jugará en 12 países distintos
y es poco probable pensar que las condiciones puedan ser las ideales como para
jugar con estadios llenos”.
