
Varias
federaciones de Europa habrían solicitado aplazar la competición a 2021 para
poder acabar sus ligas.
Sin embargo,
un portavoz dijo a Stats Perform que, de momento, no tienen ninguna petición.
La situación de
emergencia por el coronavirus en el mundo del deporte podría haber llegado
incluso a la Eurocopa de este 2020, que se disputa entre junio y julio y en la
que intervendrán como sedes varios países del continente al tratarse de una
edición especial.
Este motivo,
sumado al de la enfermedad que avanza imparable y que ha afectado ya de forma
evidente a varios países, en especial a Italia y España, habría provocado que
varias federaciones se hayan puesto en contacto con al UEFA para solicitar el
aplazamiento de la Eurocopa para el 2021.
El fondo de todo
esto es que, después de que la Italia se haya visto obligada a suspender la
Serie A, se teme que gradualmente lo vayan haciendo LaLiga y el resto de competiciones,
como ya han hecho también en Suiza. Esto provocaría que, con el calendario
apretado, no haya fechas para poder disputarse todos los partidos, lo que deja
en el aire que sucedería tanto con los campeones, como las plazas de acceso a
competición europea o descensos.

Esta situación de
incertidumbre habría provocado esta presión a la EUFA, que estaría estudiando
el caso, ya que retrasar también la Eurocopa sería imposible al disputarse acto
seguido los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio.

Monte, periodista de Fox Sports de Asia, informada de que estas federaciones se
habrían puesto en contacto al ver que la situación se agravaba.
No obstante, un
portavoz de la UEFA ha dicho a Stats Perform que “no hemos recibido una sola
solicitud de las asociaciones nacionales para posponer el torneo”. Lo que
podría ser verdad, o también servir para no agitar más la situación, después de
los anuncios de partidos disputados a puerta cerrada y ante la amenaza de que
se suspenda también la Champions y Europa League, mientras que la EUFA podría
estar estudiando realmente esa posibilidad dada la situación.
En la misma línea
se expresó el periodista del New York Times Tariq Panja: “Al contrario que
varios informes, la UEFA no ha recibido ninguna petición por parte de las Federaciones
para posponer la Eurocopa de 2020 por un año”.
