La decisión de
aplazar otra vez el encuentro entre los equipos de Pep Guardiola y Mikel
Arteta, que estaba previsto para las 20:30 horas de este miércoles en España
(19:30 hora de Mánchester), se ha tomado como medida de precaución debido a que
algunos jugadores del Arsenal estuvieron en contacto con el dueño de Olympiakos
de Grecia, Evangelos Marinakis, quien este martes ha dado positivo de
coronavirus en sus estudios. Ingleses y griegos se cruzaron hace 13 días por la
Europa League.
EL COMUNICADO
DEL ARSENAL
"Después de
las noticias de ayer de que el propietario de Olympiakos, Evangelos Marinakis,
dio positivo de Covid-19, hemos recibido asesoramiento médico y buscando
personas que tuvieran lo que las pautas definen como contacto cercano con él en
el partido de hace 13 días.
Como resultado de
este ejercicio, identificamos que varios jugadores se encontraron con el
propietario del Olympiakos inmediatamente después del partido.
Seguimos
estrictamente las pautas gubernamentales que recomiendan que cualquier persona
que entre en contacto cercano con alguien que esté infectado con el virus debe
quedarse en su hogar durante 14 días desde la última vez que tuvo contacto.
Como resultado,
los jugadores no están disponibles para el partido de esta noche contra el
Manchester City y la Premier League decidió que el juego debía posponerse.
Los jugadores
permanecerán en sus hogares hasta que expire el período de 14 días. Cuatro
empleados del Arsenal, que estuvieron sentados cerca del Sr. Marinakis durante
el partido, también permanecerán en casa hasta que se cumplan los 14 días.
