Aouar, en el minuto 81, decidió una igualada eliminatoria de cuartos en que el equipo de Villas-Boas no pudo poner fin a su gafe en Lyon.
El Lyon accedió a semifinales de la Copa francesa tras eliminar en el Groupama Stadium al Marsella por 1-0 gracias a un solitario gol de Houssem Aouar en el minuto 81 de un igualado partido. El equipo de Rudi Garcia se suma a Rennes, vigente campeón del torneo, y Paris SG, mientras mañana Épinal, de Cuarta División, y Saint-Étienne decidirán cuál de los dos es el cuarto superviviente.
El Marsella de André Villas-Boas, segundo en la Ligue 1, llevaba 16 partidos seguidos invicto en todas las competiciones pero su extraordinaria racha tocó a su fin debido al gafe que le persigue Lyon, donde no gana desde noviembre de 2007. Desde entonces encadena con el de hoy 14 encuentros sin conocer la victoria.
Primera parte sin ocasiones
La primera parte fue muy equilibrada y, a falta de ocasiones, hubo mucha intensidad y constantes fricciones y faltas. El Marsella llevó mayoritariamente la iniciativa aunque el Lyon llegó mejor al descanso.
En la segunda mitad esta tendencia se confirmó. El Lyon se lanzó más al ataque y, en el minuto 59, Maxence Caqueret ya pudo abrir el marcador de no ser porque el central cántabro Álvaro González desvió providencialmente su disparo a córner con el cuerpo.
Penalti de VAR que desperdicia Dembélé
Más cerca estuvo el Lyon de abrir el marcador en el minuto 70 cuando, a instancias del VAR, el árbitro pitó penalti después que Hiroki Sakai desviara con el brazo extendido un trallazo de Karl Toko Ekambi, recién llegado del Villarreal, hacia portería. Pero el meta Yohann Pelé, hoy titular en lugar de Steve Mandanda, adivinó la intención a Moussa Dembélé y le detuvo la pena máxima.
Finalmente el Lyon decantó la eliminatoria en el minuto 81 tras una gran acción colectiva con pase fina del Bertrand Traoré a Aouar, quien superó a Pelé con un potente disparo. El Marsella, sin apenas llegadas en la segunda parte, no tuvo tiempopara reaccionar.
