Paolo Maldini, director técnico del club ‘rossonero’ contactó con el técnico español, que aterrizará en la Serie A a partir de verano.
El exentrenador del Valencia, con este acuerdo ya cerrado, rechazó recientemente varias ofertas de otros clubs.
Marcelino García Toral será el nuevo entrenador del Milan a partir de la próxima temporada. El técnico español de 54 años, sin equipo desde que fue destituido del Valencia a principios de esta temporada, el pasado mes de septiembre, y relevado por Albert Celades, firmará por el conjunto ‘rossonero’ y se convertirá así en el sucesor de Stefano Pioli, técnico que sustituyó a Marco Giampaolo en octubre.
Marcelino, campeón de Copa la temporada pasada con el Valencia, tendrá por delante el difícil reto de volver a convertir al conjunto lombardo en un equipo dominador en Italia y en Europa, como lo era hasta hace unos años.
Aproximadamente hace un mes y medio, el mítico exjugador del Milan Paolo Maldini, actualmente director técnico del club ‘rossonero’, contactó con Marcelino para presentarle su proyecto y obtuvo el compromiso por parte del técnico asturiano para convertirse en el nuevo entrenador una vez concluya la presente temporada. La decisión de apostar por Marcelino, también fue de Zvonimir Boban, director de fútbol del conjunto milanista desde el pasado verano.
Recientemente, Marcelino ha tenido ofertas para entrenar de forma inmediata a otros clubs pero las ha rechazado para no romper su acuerdo con el Milan. Hace unos meses, antes del aterrizaje de Mikel Arteta al banquillo del Arsenal, el nombre del asturiano sonó también para dirigir al conjunto ‘gunner’ e incluso llegó a estar en Londres.
Para el extécnico de Valencia, Villarreal, Sevilla, Racing, Zaragoza, Recreativo o Sporting, será su primera etapa entrenando en el extranjero. Lo hará eso sí, en uno de los grandes equipos históricos del continente, como el Milan, aunque muy venido abajo en los últimos años. Su objetivo no es otro que recuperar los días de gloria del conjunto ‘rossonero’, 18 veces campeón de la Liga italiana y 7 veces campeón de Europa.
Posible cambio de propietarios
A partir del próximo verano, el Milan podría sufrir un cambio de propietarios, aunque esto no afectaría el acuerdo con el que se ha llegado ya con Marcelino. Actualmente, el máximo propietario es el estadounidense Paul Elliott Singer, que dirige uno de los fondos más grandes del mundo, Elliott Management Corporation.
