La joven estrella brasileña del Arsenal recuerda su paso por La Masía y niega contactos del Real Madrid.
Gabriel Martinelli está siendo una pieza importante en el Arsenal de Mikel Arteta, aunque bien podría estar brillando en el Camp Nou. Este viernes, el jugador de los Gunners ha admitido que fue rechazado por el Barcelona antes de mudarse al Emirates Stadium, ya que fue descubierto por los catalanes antes de que lo hicieran los londinenses.
Martinelli, quien terminó firmando para el Arsenal en el verano de 2019, le contó a Marca sus experiencias en el Barça. "Un poco antes de la Copa São Paulo pasé unos días de entrenamiento en el Barcelona. Estuve 15 días allí que era el tiempo que tenía de vacaciones en el sub 17 que acabó en octubre. Como la Copinha no empezaba hasta enero, entrenaríamos en diciembre. Y noviembre lo tenía libre. El Barcelona me invitó para entrenar con ellos en La Masía pero después no quiso hacer nada conmigo, no me dijeron nada... volví al Ituano, jugué la Copinha y enseguida vine al Arsenal", recordó.
Y agregó: "Fueron muy buenos, aproveché al máximo y di lo mejor de mí. Ver cómo ellos entrenan, conocer la estructura del club, la ciudad... fue un sueño realizado también".
Si bien Martinelli fue ignorado por los blaugrana, tuvo la oportunidad de trabajar con Ansu Fati, que está haciendo su propio camino en el Camp Nou en la temporada 2019-20. “Incluso entrené con Ansu Fati y nos hicimos amigos. Me ayudó mucho allí y ahora está jugando en el equipo principal. Es un niño que merece todo lo que le está sucediendo. Él es súper humilde y me recibió muy bien allí”, le elogió el jugador del Arsenal.
De no poder jugar en el Barcelona, a admirar a una leyenda del Real Madrid. Y es que Martinelli reconoció que su ídolo es Cristiano Ronaldo. "Lo admiro mucho por la fuerza de voluntad que tiene, por la forma de trabajar y por todo... por los premios individuales y colectivos que gana. Es un tipo que no se conforma, siempre quiere más. Eso es lo que yo quiero para mí: estar siempre conquistando cosas. Él es un ejemplo", desveló.
Martinelli lleva 10 goles en 21 apariciones para el Arsenal, y algunos medios ya lo pusieron en la órbita del Real Madrid. Sin embargo, él está tranquilo y asegura que no le ha "llegado nada". "Estoy concentrado aquí haciendo mi trabajo en el Arsenal y mi cabeza está aquí", remató.
