El Tribunal de Arbitraje Deportivo le confirma como campeón de la Copa LIbertadores pero le cierra el estadio en dos partidos.
El Tribunal de Arbitraje Deportivo (TAS) ha decidido confirmar al River Plate como campeón de la Copa Libertadores 2018, aunque le impone una sanción de jugar a puerta cerrada sus dos próximos partidos del torneo continental, según informó este martes en un comunicado.
Tras la apelación presentada por el Boca Juniors, al que el River Plate ganó en diciembre de 2018 la final en el estadio Santiago Bernabéu de Madrid por 3-1, el TAS mantiene el resultado deportivo pero le impone dicha pena por los incidentes acaecidos fuera del estadio Monumental de Buenos Aires cuando llegaba el autobús de la plantilla ‘xeneize’, que fue atacado por hinchas del club ‘millonario’ antes de disputar el partido de vuelta de la final.
Aplazamiento y final en Madrid
En la ida, jugada el 11 de noviembre de 2018, ambos equipos argentinos habían empatado a dos y debido a dichos incidentes el partido de vuelta fue aplazado y finalmente disputado el 9 de diciembre en el Bernabéu, donde el River remontó un tanto de Darío Benedetto con dianas de Lucas Prato (m.67), Juan Fernando Quintero (m.108) y Gonzalo Martínez (m.121).
El laudo del caso hecho público este martes por el TAS resuelve el recurso que el Boca Juniors presentó después de que la CONMEBOL rechazase descalificar al River Plate por el ataque al autobús de su equipo, mientras se desplazaba al estadio para jugar la vuelta de la final de la competición, el 24 de noviembre de 2018.
El recurso de Boca
Según recordó el tribunal, el Boca reclamaba al TAS que anulara la citada resolución de la CONMEBOL; que considerara a River responsable de la conducta de sus seguidores en los citados hechos y que le sancionara con la descalificación de la Copa Libertadores 2018 o con "serias sanciones disciplinarias".
"La Formación Arbitral del TAS consideró que, a pesar de que el River Plate había violado el Reglamento Disciplinario de la CONMEBOL, no podía ordenar la descalificación de River Plate de la Copa Libertadores 2018, pues dicha sanción habría resultado excesiva teniendo en cuenta las circunstancias del caso", señaló el tribunal en su comunicado.
Los argumentos del TAS
En el mismo consideró que "la sanción apropiada a imponer al River Plate por el ataque al autobús son dos partidos a puerta cerrada, a cumplirse en los dos próximos encuentros de la Copa Libertadores que el River Plate dispute en su estadio".
A finales de noviembre de 2018 y tras los incidentes ocurridos antes del choque de vuelta de la final, la CONMEBOL decidió, con el visto bueno de la FIFA, la UEFA, la Federación Española y el Real Madrid, que el título de la Libertadores se resolviera en el Santiago Bernabéu de Madrid el 9 de diciembre de 2018.

La final de la Libertadores 2018 sufrió un primer aplazamiento antes del partido de ida por una tromba de agua caída en Buenos Aires y otros dos antes del choque de vuelta.
Uno por el ataque del que fue objeto el autobús del Boca y otro al día siguiente, cuando iba a jugarse, porque la CONMEBOL decidió retrasar el encuentro al entender que Boca no estaba en igualdad de condiciones para jugar el partido.
