Pese al triunfo contra el Manchester City (2-0), importante porque deja al Tottenham en Europa, Mourinho no escondió su enfado por el VAR. Un choque frente al conjunto de Guardiola marcado por acciones que precisaron de revisión, también la del duro pisotón de Sterling sobre Dele Alli en los primeros compases: “No era amarilla. Tuvo que ser expulsado. Todo empezó con esa mala decisión. Sé que es complicado arbitrar. Mike Dean no estuvo mal, pero el problema es el VAR”, aseguró el portugués en conferencia de prensa.
No hay debate solo en España sino también en Inglaterra, escenario de quejas por el criterio que se establece en cada encuentro: “Pensé que iba a amar al VAR como la tecnología de gol. Pero ahí no hay errores”, subrayó Mourinho.
Guardiola, en cambio, prefirió no entrar al trapo. No quiso matizar ni agregar nada al respecto de la acción en la que el City pudo verse con inferioridad: “No comento la opinión de mis colegas”, se limitó a contestar el catalán, presionado por la crítica.
Tardó casi una hora en comparecer, expuesto a sanción por parte de la FA: “No estoy enfadado con mis jugadores. Este negocio es así. Estás más cerca de ganar cuando creas más pero es algo que a veces no funciona. En el vestuario hablamos de seguir adelante. Quedan meses por jugar y cosas por hacer”. La Premier, sin embargo, es misión imposible: “Acepto que no hay oportunidad alguna. El Liverpool es imparable”, concluyó Guardiola, obligado a centrarse en la Champions.
Respecto a la lesión de Sterling, que se retiró del campo en el minuto 83 y peligra para la eliminatoria de octavos de Champions contra el Madrid, Guardiola aseguró que todavía no ha hablado con los doctores.
