El exayudante
de Mourinho durante 17 años renuncia al banquillo del Al Duhail después del 4-0
en la Copa de Qatar ante el Al Sadd.
Rui Faría ha
dejado de ser hoy el entrenador del Al Duhail apenas tres días después de
perder la final de la Copa de Qatar ante el Al Sadd de Xavi Hernández por un
contundente 4-0. De esta forma acaba la primera experiencia en solitario del
técnico portugués,
ayudante de José Mourinho en Uniao Leiría, Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid,
Chelsea y Manchester United.
El Al Duhail
difundió un comunicado en el que precisa que Rui Faría renuncia al cargo por
“motivos personales”. Deja al equipo siendo líder de la liga qatarí con 2
puntos sobre el Al Rayyan y 9 sobre el Al Sadd, que tiene un partido pendiente,
pero la derrota ante el equipo de Xavi ha sido determinante en su decisión. No
es la primera final que el exjugador del Barça gana al portugués con ambos como
entrenadores, ya que en agosto también le derrotó en la Supercopa de Qatar
(1-0).
Escasos días
antes de levantar ese primer título en su tercer partido como entrenador, Xavi
empezó su carrera en los banquillos eliminando con el Al Sadd al propio Al Duhail
de Rui Faría en los octavos de final de la Champions League de Asia (1-1 y
3-1).
Rui Faría dejó de
ser ayudante de Mourinho en el United en el 30 de junio de 2018, poniendo fin a
una relación entre ambos de 17 años consecutivos, y el 18 de enero de 2019
firmó por el Al Duhail hasta junio de 2022.
