Tras sufrir
ataques racistas esta temporada, el internacional francés ha decidido pasar a
la acción.
El centrocampista
del Manchester United Paul Pogba espera combatir la continua
"ignorancia" que se muestra en los campos de fútbol mediante el
lanzamiento de una nueva iniciativa contra el racismo.
Pogba pidió a sus
compañeros de equipo del United que usaran una pulsera en blanco y negro con
las palabras 'No al racismo' y 'Somos uno' antes de la victoria del jueves por
4-1 sobre el Newcastle United.
Inspirado por una
campaña similar lanzada por su compatriota Thierry Henry en 2005, Pogba actuó
en lugar de esperar a que intervengan los principales órganos rectores del
fútbol.
"Fue mi idea
hacer eso", dijo cuando se le preguntó acerca de las pulseras. "He
estado pensando en hacer esto, pero no quiero pasar por la UEFA o la FIFA. Lo
hice yo mismo".
"Creo que
tenemos la oportunidad de tener este poder para mostrar cosas en el fútbol, en
la televisión. La gente lo ve así que creo que eso hará que la gente entienda
algunas cosas".
"Creo que
todo se debe a la ignorancia. Ignorancia y cosas así, y solo para mostrarle a
la gente que todos ustedes son uno. Todos somos uno".
"Recuerdo
cuando era más joven sobre (la campaña) 'Stand Up, Speak Up' (Levántate,
habla). Simplemente me recordó eso".
Pogba fue objeto
de abuso racista a principios de esta temporada después de fallar un penalti en
el empate 1-1 del United con Wolves, uno de varios incidentes de alto perfil en
los últimos meses.
Jesse Lingard y
Fred también fueron presuntamente atacados durante el derbi de Manchester de
este mes, mientras que Antonio Rudiger del Chelsea tuvo una experiencia similar
contra el Tottenham la semana pasada.
"Muchos
jugadores en muchas ligas, no solo en la Premier League sino en Italia, España,
en todas partes, [han sufrido abuso racial] y seguimos escuchando esto",
dijo Pogba.
"No quiero
ser presidente, no quiero ser político. Solo somos jugadores de fútbol,
queremos disfrutar eso. Los fanáticos deben disfrutar venir y ver un buen
fútbol y eso es todo.
"Esto es
para demostrar que estamos en contra de eso. No quiero ir y hacer entrevistas,
pero sé que hará que la gente hable. Mis compañeros de equipo, lo hicimos.

"Estamos
solo por el fútbol, disfrutamos del fútbol. Hacemos lo que amamos. Damos
