Luego de que se conociera la decisión de Mesut Özil de renunciar a la Selección de Alemania tras la polémica que causara una foto tomada con el presidente de Turquía, las críticas contra el jugador del Arsenal han aumentado y esta vez han venido desde esferas dirigenciales del fútbol teutón, donde destacan las declaraciones de Uli Hoeness, presidente del Bayern Múnich.
En declaraciones vertidas al reconocido diario alemán “Bild”, Hoeness fue sumamente duro con Özil, calificando su decisión como el fin de una “pesadilla”: “Estoy contento de que haya terminado la pesadilla. Hace años que su juego es una basura. El último duelo que ganó fue antes del Mundial de 2014. Y ahora se escuda a él mismo y a su porquería de juego detrás de esta foto”.
Del mismo modo, la cabeza del Bayern Múnich destacó que el fútbol alemán necesita una nueva evolución donde, aseguró, no encajan jugadores como el alemán de procedencia turca: “La evolución en nuestro país es una catástrofe. Hay que reducirlo de nuevo a lo que es: deporte. Y deportivamente Özil no ha aportado nada a la selección nacional desde hace años”.
Vale recordar que en su participación con la Selección de Alemania durante el Mundial Rusia 2018, Mesut Özil fue una sombra del juego que, por lo general, despliega jugando en la Premier League. Sin embargo, para Uli Hoeness, el jugador “gunner” es el punto débil que el cuadro muniqués siempre tenía en la mira: “Cada vez que jugábamos contra el Arsenal le buscábamos porque era el punto débil. Sólo brilla cuando juega contra San Marino. Sus 35 millones de ‘followers’, que no existen en el mundo real, se piensan que juega de manera sobresaliente cuando acierta un balón cruzado”.
Si Mesut Özil responderá a esta particular crítica es incierto. De momento, el jugador alemán que se inició en el Schalke 04, Werder Bremen y que luego migró al Real Madrid, ha mantenido silencio tras hacer oficial su renuncia a la Selección de Alemania en sus redes sociales oficiales.
