Jurgen Klopp realizará desde hoy y hasta el sábado un mini stage en Marbella, en el lujoso Westin La Quinta, un hotel con golf, spa y mucha tranquilidad. Serán tres días antes de retomar sesiones más intensas en la ciudad deportiva de Melwood y de viajar finalmente a Kiev. Tres noches, al menos cuatro sesiones de entrenamiento, cambio de rutina y una luz diferente: eso busca Klopp.
Tras golear ante el Oporto 5-0 el pasado febrero en la ida de los dieciseisavos de final de la Champions, Jurgen Klopp entrenó una semana en Melwood y posteriormente se llevó a su equipo a Marbella aprovechando que tenían un periodo de diez días sin partido. A la vuelta de aquel parón, el Liverpool destrozó al West Ham 4-1 con goles de su trío atacante y de Emre Can que les colocaba segundos en la clasificación.

Klopp ha repetido en varias ocasiones, y volvió a explicar tras su estancia en Marbella, que su sueño es poder trabajar incluso más tiempo con sus plantillas. “Si los entrenadores pudiéramos estar más tiempo con los jugadores y prepararlos mejor, se vería un fútbol todavía más atractivo”. Tras la victoria ante el Oporto lo normal era que el equipo volviera a casa y se preparara para el siguiente encuentro, pero Marbella sirvió para que los futbolistas se dieran cuenta de lo especial del resultado. El objetivo esta vez es el mismo: que el fútbol no se entienda solo como sufrimiento o sacrificio, sino también disfrute. “Si no disfrutas el buen tiempo, cada momento, cada hora estando en un sitio así, es que te falla algo en la cabeza”, dice Klopp.
El preparador alemán hará comer a su equipo a la fresca, aprovechando el sol del Mediterráneo, y ya sólo por eso, y el reforzamiento de relaciones, hubiera valido la pena viajar a España. “Contra mejor sea el grupo, antes llegarán los objetivos”, insiste el preparador. En Marbella habrá al menos una sesión doble, se producirán reuniones diarias y los jugadores, acostumbrados a dormir sólos, compartirán habitación. Las parejas se decidirán por sorteo. “Llevo 18 años haciendo algo parecido y siempre ha sido una experiencia positiva”.
La plantilla está concentrada en terminar la temporada coronándose como campeones de Europa. “Vamos a preparar la final muy bien”, decía ayer Van Dijk, el central holandés que llegó en enero a Anfield por 80 millones de euros, en la web del club. “El Madrid tiene mucha calidad, pero estaremos en Kiev por méritos propios, así que tenemos que ir con confianza”.
Refugio del Betis y de clubes rusos, chinos...
El Westin La Quinta es conocido por alojar clubes de fútbol para preparaciones cortas. El Betis ha estado entre sus muros (y campos de entrenamiento) y también ha llamado la atención de clubes extranjeros. El Rubin Kazán y el Lokomotiv huyeron del frío ruso y realizaron un stage de invierno al sol de este complejo marbellí. Por allí han pasado también equipos noruegos (el Valerenga), suecos (Kalmar FF) y ahora ha llamado la atención de varios integrantes de la Superliga china. El Hebei China Fortune llegó de la mano de un hombre que conoce bien la zona, su técnico Manuel Pellegrini, para pasar un mes, y también han utilizado el recinto el Tianjin Quanjian, el Shanghai Shenhua y el Jiangsu Suning. Los cuatro clubes pasaron gran parte del pasado mes de enero preparándose en Marbella. Ahora, acogerá a un finalista de la Champions.
