
A meses de
haber perdido la organización de dos eventos internacionales, Perú recibe la
finalísima entre Flamengo y River. ¿Qué cambió?
Ante la grave
crisis sociopolítica que atraviesa Chile desde hace semanas, la CONMEBOL
designó a Lima como nueva sede de la final de la Copa Libertadores que
disputarán River y Flamengo el próximo sábado 23 de noviembre. El escenario
elegido sorprendió a más de
uno ya que, apenas unos meses atrás, Perú había perdido la organización del
Mundial Sub 17 2019 y la posibilidad de albergar la final de la Copa
Sudamericana.

La inestabilidad
política del país y los conflictos internos de la Federación Peruana de Fútbol
(FPF) fueron los principales motivos que llevaron a la FIFA y a la CONMEBOL a
suspender, en febrero y en mayo de este año, respectivamente, el nombramiento
de Perú como país anfitrión de la Copa del Mundo juvenil y de la final de la
Sudamericana.
A la crisis
política que incluyó la renuncia del presidente de la nación Pedro Pablo
Kuczynski en marzo del 2018 y la disolución del Congreso, se le sumó a fin de
año la prisión preventiva del entonces presidente de la FPF, Edwin Oviedo,
detenido por la supuesta financiación de una banda criminal, además de ser
señalado como partícipe necesario de un doble homicidio de sindicalistas de una
sus empresas.
"Han
cambiado muchas cosas desde que Lima dejó de ser la sede de la final de la Copa
Sudamericana. Ocurrieron hechos de público conocimiento como un cambio de
gobierno y también en la presidencia de la FPF, lo cual nos imposibilitaba
tener con quién trabajar. Somos conscientes que la FIFA ha elegido Lima como la
sede del Mundial Sub 17 2021, así que el problema tenía que ver con la falta de
autoridades y ya está todo reestablecido", explicó el presidente Alejandro
Domínguez, al ser consultado acerca de qué había cambiado en Perú para volver a
ser tenida en cuenta para un evento internacional de este tipo.
Luego de la
asunción del antes vicepresidente Agustín Lozano al frente de la FPF y de la
mano de la normalización del país, que en enero próximo tendrá elecciones
congresales extraordinarias, Perú empezó a recuperar el terreno perdido:
organizará la edición 2021 del Mundial Sub 17 y recibirá nada menos que la
final de clubes más importante del continente.
