La Croacia de Luka Modric dio un paso muy importante para meterse entre las dos primeros del Grupo E después de golear a una débil Hungría que no despertó en todo el partido.
Fue el propio jugador madridista, que estuvo en el campo hasta el minuto 66' (por Kovacic), el que dirigió la nave croata, merced a un primer gol a los cuatro minutos que encarriló el partido. Modric robó una pelota, se fue directo a gol y fusiló al meta Gulacsi. Entre los españoles, también jugó, hasta el minuto 74, el azulgrana Ivan Rakitic, con otro buen partido pese a no traer la mejor forma por no estar jugando con el Barça.
Modric, junto a Petkovic, fue el mejor del encuentro. El madridista jugó su partido número 125 con su país -sólo le supera Srna con 134- y marcó su tanto número 16. En esta fase de la Euro, lleva dos tantos en seis encuentros.
El otro gran protagonista del choque fue el delantero del Dinamo Bruno Petkovic, acaso la próxima gran joya -pese a tener 25 años- del fútbol nacional. Anotó dos dianas, y compartió ataque con Perisic y Rebic, titulares durante el pasado Mundial, en el que Croacia fue subcampeona.
El segundo de Bruno, eso sí, estuvo precedido por un fallo increíble del defensa magiar Kadar.
La segunda parte estuvo marcada por el fallo de un penalti por parte de Perisic (55') y la roja, por doble amarilla, al húngaro Kleinheisler en el 56'. Ahí acabó el partido.
Con este resultado, Croacia se presenta con muchas posibilidades de ser primera o segunda del Grupo, en el que aventaja en tres puntos a Eslovaquia y en cuatro a Hungrìa.
