
El fantástico
jugador portugués revela en una entrevista en el ‘Daily Mail’ que Pep no va a
dar a sus jugadores un respiro a pesar de los éxitos cosechados.

concedió una extensa entrevista en Manchester al rotativo inglés ‘Daily Mail’
en la que repasó su etapa en Inglaterra y también las anteriores a su
aterrizaje en la Premier. Guardiola llegó a decir en su día que en el City iban
a ser él y diez más: “Jugar con Pep es agotador”, apuntó entre sonrisas el
portugués, que desveló que el catalán apenas les permite que se relajen: “No es
fácil a veces pero necesitas a alguien que te apriete si quieres seguir
consiguiendo cosas”, dijo.
Un futbolista
exquisito que maravilló a Guardiola cuando el Mónaco eliminó al City en aquel
cruce en Champions de 2017. En el compromiso de ida Bernardo quedó maravillado
del estadio, de la afición y de la atmósfera. En aquel momento supo que le
había llegado el momento de crecer. Aunque cuando le interpelan por la liga del
curso pasado lo tiene claro: “La que ganamos con el Mónaco fue más complicada
aún. Nadie en Francia espera que derrotes al PSG”, subrayó.
Su cabeza, por si
había alguna duda, está y estará en Manchester: “Firmé mi renovación hasta el
año 2025. ¿Qué me hizo extender el contrato? Saber que durante la próxima
década se luchará por mantener la hegemonía. Por eso David Silva o Agüero se
han quedado tanto tiempo. Ahora es momento también de dar un paso al frente en
Europa”, ponderó Bernardo, algo que en ocasiones parece hasta tabú en la
entidad, sobre todo a raíz de las desilusiones de los últimos años.
El futuro del
City está en manos de Sterling, De Bruyne o Bernardo como el de ahora está
ligado a Silva, el canario, Agüero o en el pasado a Touré Yaya o Kompany: “No
es justo compararme con David porque él ha estado quince años en la élite a un
gran nivel, pero si un día quieren que continúe su legado, daré lo mejor de mí
para lograrlo”, destacó un Bernardo que sueña con sumar tres Premier League
consecutivas. El reto está al alcance. Sobre todo si Pep no permite que se baje
la guardia.
