Al borde del ataque de furia, Emre Can quedó muy fastidiado por no haber sido incluido en la nómina que presentó Juventus para disputar la Champions League.
"Estoy muy enfadado. Hace una semana el club me había comunicado justo lo opuesto, y ayer Sarri me llamó y, en menos de un minuto, me dijo que no estaba en la lista. La Juve no fue honesta conmigo", expresó desde la concentación del seleccionado alemán.

Otros nombres importantes de los que prescindió en entrenador de la Vecchia Signora fueron Mario Mandzukic y Giorgio Chiellini, aunque este último a causa de una lesión.
Por el lado de Emre Can, que la pasada temporada contabilizó 37 partidos con Juventus, todavía quedaba más fastidio por expresar: "Si lo hubiese sabido antes, no me hubiese quedado en la Juventus. Esta situación me genera rabia y desilusión. Quiero jugar la Champions", protestó.
Horas más tarde, tal vez con algún llamado de por medio, Can salió a ofrecer disculpas por algunos de sus dichos a través de Twitter.
