América recibirá a León en el partido de ida de Semifinales correspondientes al Clausura 2019 de la Liga MX, la cita es el miércoles 15 de mayo en el Estadio Azteca, a las 19:30 horas.
El club de Coapa es el campeón vigente, está en
Semifinales por cuarto torneo consecutivo. Llegó a esta instancia después de
terminar en quinto lugar de la clasificación y eliminar en Cuartos de Final a
Cruz Azul con global 3-2.
Los Esmeraldas fueron los líderes del Clausura 2019,
impusieron marca de puntos en torneos de 17 jornadas, con 41, y fueron los
únicos que ganaron sus dos partidos de Cuartos de Final, 3-1 y 2-1 sobre
Tijuana.
En 12 ocasiones se encontraron en Liguilla el campeón del
torneo anterior y el líder general. EL vigente monarca eliminó al líder en 4 de
las últimas 6, pero en general, los líderes tienen ventaja con 7 a cambio de 5.
Es la quinta vez que León y América se encuentran en fase
de eliminación directa de Liguilla, cada equipo avanzó dos veces. América

América es el equipo con más Semifinales jugadas, tiene
35, pero también es el que más ha perdido: 20. La última vez que superó una en
la que cerró fuera de casa sucedió en Clausura 2007, desde entonces quedó fuera
en seis.
León ha jugado 10 veces en Semifinales, avanzó en cinco,
pero quedó fuera en sus dos más recientes.
Miguel Herrera empatará a Enrique Meza en el segundo
lugar de más Semifinales dirigidas. “El Piojo” lleva 11, con marca negativa al
haber perdido seis, mientras que “El Ojitos” fue mejor en nueve ocasiones.
Para Ignacio Ambriz será su tercera Semifinal, fue
eliminado en las dos anteriores. De los cuatro técnicos que siguen con vida es
el único que no ha sido campeón ni ha dirigido una Final.
Durante la fase regular estos equipos se enfrentaron en
el Estadio Azteca y ganó León 3-0. En total, América ha sido anfitrión de La
Fiera en 66 ocasiones y tiene ventaja con 34 ganados por 14 perdidos, en 18
