Reiss Nelson is on the verge of returning to Craven Cottage, with Fulham and Arsenal locked in advanced negotiations over a potential deal. While Fulham are open to both scenarios, Arsenal have made their preference clear: they would rather sanction a loan move only if it includes an obligation to buy at the end of the season, as revealed by The Athletic. The north London side are also considering a straight sale, provided the financial terms meet their expectations, particularly given the player’s long-term contract.

Nelson made an instant impact during his stint at Craven Cottage last season. After joining Fulham on deadline day, he went on to play in 13 consecutive matches. Unfortunately, a serious hamstring issue sustained in December sidelined him for the rest of the campaign, disrupting what had looked to be a solid loan spell.

Reiss Nelson’s time at Arsenal has been punctuated by glimpses of potential but limited consistency. He last appeared for Mikel Arteta’s side as a substitute in a Premier League match against Aston Villa in August 2024. Though the club showed faith in him by offering a new contract in July 2023, extending his stay until 2027 with an optional additional year, his role in the squad has since diminished. Over the 2023–24 season, Nelson managed 23 appearances in all competitions, but only earned two starts in top-tier matches across the Premier League and Champions League.

WHAT NEXT FOR ARSENAL?
As Arsenal reshuffle their attacking department, Nelson’s departure seems more likely. The Gunners have already signed Noni Madueke from Chelsea and recently struck a deal to bring in Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP. These additions indicate a forward line in transition, and space needs to be made for new arrivals. Whereas, a return to Fulham could give Nelson the platform to regain form and consistency in the Premier League.
