Barcelona have confirmed the loan signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Barca have confirmed the signing of Rashford on loan from United, with an announcement video that shows the forward in a London phone box. He becomes the first Englishman to play for the Catalan club since Gary Lineker, who departed Camp Nou in 1989, 36 years ago.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Rashford will hope to play regular first-team football in Catalonia after falling out of favour and falling out with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. Barcelona have confirmed that they have the option to buy him come the end of the season, as did Aston Villa, although they opted against triggering it.

Rashford told Mundo Deportivo: "Very excited. I think it's a club where people's dreams come true. They win big prizes. What the club stands for really means a lot to me as well, so it feels like I'm at home, and that's a big factor in my choice to come here. For me, it's a family club and people are comfortable here, it's a place for good players to showcase their skills."

Rashford has won 62 caps for England and will hope to catch Thomas Tuchel's eye with his performances in Spain. He was not included in Gareth Southgate's squad for Euro 2024, but has played twice for the German tactician, appearing in both of his first two games against Albania and Latvia.
