Argentinos Juniors soportó este miércoles el ímpetu de Estudiantes de Mérida y avanzó a la segunda fase de la Copa Sudamericana, pese a caer en tierras venezolanas por 1-0 con el gol del colombiano Wilson Mena.
Mena anotó la única diana del partido a los 21 minutos, después de aprovechar un pase de libre directo desde la derecha, que remató con la cabeza arrojándose hacia adelante.
El propio delantero colombiano tuvo en los pies la otra jugada de real peligro que generó el local en la primera mitad, pero por un despiste quedó enganchado en posición adelantada y se perdió la oportunidad de igualar la serie.
El global de esta llave terminó 2-1 a favor del equipo de Diego Dabove, gracias a su triunfo por 2-0 en Buenos Aires del pasado 4 de abril.
Poco fútbol
En los primeros 45 minutos 'El Bicho' mostró poco fútbol y escasas ideas para ofender, y apenas alcanzó a inquietar con dos jugadas de pelota parada en la que se involucraron los hermanos Mc Allister: primero con un remate de cabeza luego de un tiro de esquina de Francis, y después con un libre directo de Alexis, que se marchó alto por poco.
En el complemento los locales mostraron las mismas ganas con las mismas dificultades para acercarse al área, que se agudizaron cuando los jugadores se fueron quedando sin energía.
El entrenador del Mérida, el argentino Martin Brignani, insistió en su dibujo 4-4-2 hasta los 80 minutos, cuando hizo ingresar a Andris Herrera para acumular más hombres en ataque.
Pero ni así consiguió llevar más peligro el Estudiantes, ni el Argentinos Juniors, lejos de su mejor versión, dejó de tratar el choque como un trámite.
Ahora, el club de Buenos Aires debe estar atento al sorteo de la segunda fase del torneo, mientras que Mérida pondrá toda su atención en la liga local, donde aún debe asegurar un boleto a la liguilla final.
