The transfer window has temporarily paused to allow teams competing in the Club World Cup to register their squads. However, there remains a plethora of deals being struck in the background ready to be formally announced when the window reopens next Monday.

Manchester United are busy bolstering Ruben Amorim's squad after a tough season. Bryan Mbeumo is an option but the Red Devils are set to face strong competition for the Brentford star. Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres could also finally be on the move, despite Sporting Lisbon insisting that the striker will not move for a reported 'gentleman's agreement' of £59million. Benjamin Sesko, Jack Grealish and Alejandro Garnacho have all been strong linked with moves. Meanwhile, Tottenham could move a step closer towards appointing Thomas Frank today.

Barcelona make Nico Williams move

Barcelona have seemingly made their move to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club.

Fabrizio Romano claims that meetings took place earlier today between Barca chiefs and Williams' agent.

The player is believed to informed senior figures at the Camp Nou that he would be open to joining them this summer.

A move materialising would be bad news for Arsenal, Chelsea and Bayern Munich, who have all been credited with interest in the winger.

Tottenham reject loan offer

Tottenham have rejected a loan offer for Alejo Veliz, according to reports in Argentina.

The striker, 21, spent last season on loan at Espanyol but he only managed one La Liga goal.

Argentinian side Rosario Central, who gave Veliz his breakthrough, are believed to be working on a deal to bring him back.

But their loan proposal has been rebuffed by Spurs, who would rather part with Veliz on a permanent basis.

The youngster scored twice in 10 Tottenham appearances.

Viktor Gyokeres price changes again

Viktor Gyokeres came into this summer with a gentleman's agreement to leave Sporting for around £60million.

The Swede was then said to be furious when Sporting changed their tune and began quoting clubs a considerably higher price.

The club's president, Frederico Varandas, even denied there was a gentleman's agreement in the first place.

But now, according to Sky Germany, Gyokeres has been assured that he can leave in the current window for around £60m.

His agent claims to have proof in writing from the Portuguese club.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Saudi Pro League clubs have all been linked.

Alejandro Garnacho to Leverkusen 'very unlikely'

Alejandro Garnacho is 'very unlikely' to sign for Bayer Leverkusen this summer, according to Sky Germany.

The German club, who are managed by ex-Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, are put off by the hefty transfer fee and wages it would take to land Garnacho.

Leverkusen are therefore prioritising other options.

United have put the 20-year-old up for sale this summer as they look to fund a squad overhaul for Ruben Amorim.

They are believed to want £70million for Garnacho, with Chelsea and Aston Villa among his other suitors.

Jack Grealish left in Man City limbo

Manchester City are yet to receive any formal offers for Jack Grealish, according to The Guardian.

And they may now be forced to consider loaning him out.

The 29-year-old, who City signed for what was then a Premier League record £100million fee in 2021, has been pinned with a £50m price tag.

But suitors have not been forthcoming.

An exit seems inevitable at some point this summer after Grealish was left out of Pep Guardiola's Club World Cup squad.

Paul Pogba offered two-year deal

Paul Pogba has been offered a two-year playing contract by AS Monaco, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 32-year-old has not played competitively since the season before last, in which he made only two appearances for Juventus.

Pogba is now eligible to return after serving a four-year doping ban which was reduced to 18 months on appeal.

And negotiations are in full swing to try and reach an agreement with Monaco.

Crystal Palace join race for Japhet Tanganga

By CHARLIE GORDON

Crystal Palace are interested in signing Japhet Tanganga from south London rivals Millwall. But the Eagles' pursuit of the defender will depend on the sale of Marc Guehi, who is once again attracting interest from some of the Premier League's top sides.

Express Sport understands that a £1.2million release clause - available to all Premier League clubs - was part of the package which took Tanganga to Millwall last summer.

Sunderland, Leeds United and Burnley also hold a concrete interest in Tanganga and would be ready to proceed once the defender decides on his preference.

But as a stable Premier League outfit based in London, Palace would have the edge if it turned into a straight four-way battle.

Joao Pedro keen on Newcastle move

Newcastle United have been 'encouraged' to ramp up their interest in Joao Pedro, according to The Telegraph.

The Brighton forward is understood to have given off signs that he would be interested in a move to the north-east.

There has been no formal bid as yet, but Brighton could let him leave for around £60million.

Pedro scored 10 Premier League goals and laid on six assists last season.

Real Madrid sign wonderkid

Real Madrid have beaten swathes of Europe to the signing of Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono.

The River Plate star, 17, will join Los Blancos when he turns 18 in August.

Chelsea, Man Utd and a host of other European clubs have previously been linked with the midfielder.

Thomas Frank's emotional goodbye to Brentford

Thomas Frank has penned a touching message to Brentford fans.

The Dane was confirmed as Tottenham’s new manager on Thursday evening.

Frank wrote: “The time has come for me to move on. But, even as I leave, I know I have left a big piece of my heart at Brentford, not just at the football club but with the community and, of course, the incredible and loyal supporters.

“I want to extend my profound gratitude to the club for giving me the chance to pursue my dreams and for everyone involved who made the journey such a memorable one.

“For my family and I, it has been a privilege to be allowed to be part of such a special community - it’s an experience and adventure that we will cherish for life. So, thank you.

“Whatever we have achieved, we have achieved together, and our success is built on unity, spirit, courage and ambition at every level of the club and amongst the fans.

“Everybody has contributed, and every contribution has been invaluable. I am not just leaving a football club, I am saying goodbye to friends whose support through good and bad times I will carry with me always.

“So, while this is a goodbye, I hope the relationships I have built with everybody will be lasting ones and, of course, we will meet again in the wonderful world of football.”

Cristiano Ronaldo 'discussed move to Morocco'

Cristiano Ronaldo failed to secure a transfer in order to play at the Club World Cup.

The Al-Nassr star was linked with several clubs ahead of Tuesday's deadline for registering players for the expanded competition.

And according to RMC, Moroccan club Wydad AC held talks over a potential move for Ronaldo.

No deal came to fruition and the 40-year-old will now have to watch on from home.

Trent Alexander-Arnold trains with Real Madrid

Trent Alexander-Arnold trained with Real Madrid for the first time today.

The former Liverpool defender completed a move to the Spanish capital ahead of the Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold is due to make his Los Blancos debut against Al-Hilal on Wednesday.

Bryan Mbeumo 'prefers Tottenham'

Bryan Mbeumo is reported to be more intrigued by the prospect of joining Tottenham over Man Utd.

United were understood to be the frontrunners for the forward's signature before his former Brentford boss, Thomas Frank, joined Spurs on Thursday.

According to Sky Sports News, Mbeumo now prefers the idea of a move to north London.

Spurs are said to have held initial discussions with Brentford over a potential transfer.

Everton target forgotten ex-Man Utd star

Everton are reportedly prepared to pay a 'big fee' for ex-Man Utd star Fred.

The 32-year-old midfielder has been playing for Fenerbahce since leaving United in 2023.

According to Turkish publication Takvim, David Moyes is keen on a move for the experienced Brazilian.

PSG hope to keep Liverpool target

PSG are reportedly desperate to keep Liverpool target Bradley Barcola.

Barcola has shone in France this year but has vast competition for his place on the wing.

He has had reported interest from Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

RMC report that PSG want to keep the 22-year-old.

Liverpool strike Florian Wirtz deal

Liverpool are reported to have finally struck an agreement over Florian Wirtz's fee.

According to The Athletic, the Reds will pay an initial £100m with a further £16m in add-ons.

Wirtz, will sign a five-year deal at Anfield, is signing for Liverpool for a club-record fee.

Leverkusen are widely reported to have wanted closer to £126m.

Should the add-ons be activated, Wirtz's transfer would become a record for British clubs.

When does the transfer window reopen?

The transfer window temporarily shut on Tuesday.

That happened to allow clubs competing in the Club World Cup to register their squads for this summer's tournament.

But the window will soon reopen, with several deals still in the works.

Monday, June 16, will mark the start of the second phase of the transfer window.

It will then run entirely uninterrupted until September 1.

Man Utd 'calling on daily basis' as Viktor Gyokeres move takes twist

Man Utd are reportedly 'calling on a daily basis' to remain informed on Viktor Gyokeres' situation.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United remain well in the hunt for the Swedish forward.

Gyokeres is reportedly unhappy over his perception that Sporting have increased the price tag they were willing to accept for his departure.

Arsenal are reported to have made offers for the 27-year-old.

Ex-Man Utd star tells Bryan Mbeumo to snub Red Devils

Former Man Utd goalkeeper Ben Foster has urged Bryan Mbeumo to snub the Red Devils and join Tottenham.

United have been strongly linked with the £60m-rated Brentford star, but Thomas Frank may show an interest in his former player after moving to Spurs.

Foster told the Fozcast: “It’s not exactly a rock and a hard place, is it?! It’s like five-star and six-star [hotel]… am I going for a swimming pool in my room or having to just go to the top floor for the swimming pool? It’s still pretty nice!

“If you want to be part of something that’s going to make you probably a better footballer, work hard and be part of a team, then go to Spurs with Thomas Frank.”

Liverpool and Man Utd suffer blow

Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche insists the Bundesliga club do not need to sell Hugo Ekitike this summer.

In a blow to the likes of Liverpool and Man Utd, Ekitike could remain at Eintracht if there is no major offer for the Frenchman.

Krosche told Wiesbadener Kurier: “If the price isn’t right, then he’ll simply stay with us. We don’t have to sell Hugo.”

Ekitike is reportedly valued at around £85m. He scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists last season, after joining from Paris Saint-Germain.

Brentford issue classy Thomas Frank statement

Thomas Frank was appointed as the new Tottenham head coach yesterday evening.

His switch ends a hugely successful seven-year reign at Brentford.

The Bees have shown little bitterness in allowing Frank to depart.

Director of football Phil Giles said: "From the moment he replaced Dean Smith, he understood what we were trying to build and his wisdom, coaching ability and emotional intelligence have helped transform the club.

"But it's not just what you see on the pitch. He forged a special connection with our fans, helped develop and improve players, and was instrumental in implementing the culture that has seen Brentford go from strength to strength.

"We will never forget Thomas, but now it is time to thank him and take the next steps in our journey with a new leader who we believe can be just as successful and influential."

It remains to be seen how active Spurs and Frank are in the transfer market.

Viktor Gyokeres saga takes fresh twist

Viktor Gyokeres seemed to fire back at Sporting in the latest twist in his saga last night.

Earlier this week, Sporting president Frederico Varandas insisted that there was no 'gentleman's agreement' for Gyokeres to leave for £59m.

He did, however, accept that the forward would leave the club this summer for less than his £85m release clause.

Gyokeres seemed to fire back at Varandas last night in a blunt statement, which read: “There is a lot of talks at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right.”

Arsenal are reported to have made an offer for the 27-year-old, while there is also interest from Man Utd.

According to Mais Futebol, Arsenal are prepared to launch a new bid of just over £59m.

Man Utd decide next four transfers

Man Utd are expected to be busy this summer and confirmed Matheus Cunha as their first signing of the window.

A £62.5m deal with Wolves was finally completed yesterday.

Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo is expected to be next on their list, although Thomas Frank's arrival at Tottenham might present a potential obstacle. Spurs are also said to be interested in the Cameroon international.

According to MEN, a further three targets will be signed.

A new striker is high on United's agenda, having missed out on Liam Delap. Viktor Gyokeres is well liked but is currently in a tug-of-war with Sporting over his future.

A new midfielder and a goalkeeper, with Altay Bayindir's future uncertain as United's No. 2, could also reportedly be targeted.

A combined £122.5m spend on Cunha and Mbeumo means outgoings could dictate how many more deals United can complete.

Bayern Munich director Max Eberl has reacted to Florian Wirtz rejecting the Bundesliga champions to join Liverpool.

Wirtz is set to land at Liverpool for an eye-watering £127million, having snubbed the chance to move to Bayern from Bayer Leverkusen.

"At first you think, ‘Damn’, but when one door closes, another opens. You reset and prepare again for the future," Eberl said.

The Athletic Club winger is available for £49million due to his release clause, but is set to be offered a new contract.

Viktor Gyokeres releases statement

Manchester United and Arsenal target Viktor Gyokeres has released a statement as speculation surrounding his future rumbles on.

The 27-year-old is expected to leave Sporting this summer, but he is reportedly concerned that the club will price him out of an exit.

On Wednesday, Sporting president Frederico Varandas publicly aimed fire at Gyokeres' agent for telling media outlets that there was an agreement to let him leave for as low as £57m.

He strongly refuted those reports, insisting Gyokeres' suitors will have to offer more to be successful.

And now the Swedish striker has had his say on the saga, taking to social media to shrug off most of the noise as lies.

"There is a lot of talks at the moment, most of it is false. I will speak when the time is right," Gyokeres wrote on his Instagram story.

Kostoulas will become the most expensive Greek player in football history if he achieves add-ons worth £1.7m at Brighton.

Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox has hailed the arrival of Matheus Cunha in a £62m move from Wolves.

“Bringing in Matheus was one of our main priorities for this summer, so we are delighted to have completed his signing so early in the window," Wilcox told the United website.

"He has proved his ability to succeed in the Premier League as one of the most exciting and productive forwards in England during his time at Wolves, and, before that, in Spain and Germany.

"He has all the qualities we are looking for as we seek to build a strong, dynamic and entertaining team capable of challenging for the biggest honours.”

Thomas Frank expected to become Tottenham manager

Thomas Frank is widely expected to be announced as the new Tottenham manager.

Frank was keen to bring Justin Cochrane with him from Brentford, but the Independent claims that the Bees were lining up the former Man Utd academy coach as a potential successor to the Dane.

Spurs are now said to have won that battle.

Wide-ranging reports claim that Frank could be announced as the new Spurs head coach as early as tonight or tomorrow.

The 51-year-old will replace Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked weeks after winning the club's first trophy in 17 years.

Spurs finished a lowly 17th in the Premier League last season.

Matheus Cunha's first words as a Man Utd player

Matheus Cunha has spoken for the first time since his £62.5m move to Man Utd was finalised.

The former Wolves forward said: “It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player.

“Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother’s house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt.

“I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality.

“I can’t wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my teammates and prepare for the season ahead.

“All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold speaks fluent Spanish

Trent Alexander-Arnold has wowed the Spanish media with his linguistic skills.

The right-back spoke in fluent Spanish after being unveiled as a Real Madrid player following his move from Liverpool.

Translated into English, his first words were: "It's a dream come true. I'm very happy and proud to be here. I want to show Real Madrid fans how I play.

"I do realise I am signing for Real Madrid, the demands are high. I'm going to give my all for Real Madrid and the fans. I want to win many titles.

"I want to be a winner here and playing alongside the best players in the world. Hala Madrid."

Trent Alexander-Arnold shirt number revealed

Trent Alexander-Arnold will wear No. 12 for Real Madrid.

La Liga does not permit shirt numbers above 25, meaning the right-back could not wear the No. 66 he donned at Liverpool.

It also seems he will have 'Trent' on his shirt, instead of 'Alexander-Arnold'.

When does the transfer window reopen?

The transfer window temporarily closed on Tuesday to accommodate the Club World Cup.

However, many deals are ongoing in the background and could be completed over the coming weeks.

The transfer window will reopen on Monday, June 16.

Luka Modric to leave Real Madrid

Luka Modric will leave Real Madrid after 13 years this summer.

The veteran midfielder, 39, will play for Los Blancos at the Club World Cup.

He is then widely expected to join AC Milan.

Viktor Gyokeres feelings in Sporting situation emerge

Viktor Gyokeres is said to be feeling 'disrespected' over his so-far failed attempts to leave Sporting this summer.

Club president Frederico Varandas has denied that a 'gentleman's agreement' for Gyokeres to leave for £59m was ever made.

Arsenal and Man Utd are interested in a deal.

The forward will be allowed to leave for less than his £85m release clause, but is said to be feeling 'disrespected' by Sporting's stance.

Record claim that Gyokeres is even thinking of going on 'strike' and has promised not to play for the club again.

Liverpool could strike third Bayer Leverkusen deal

Discussions between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen have been a theme of the summer.

Jeremie Frimpong has already joined the Reds, while Florian Wirtz is close to reuniting with his former colleague.

And it could now be Leverkusen's chance to benefit from talks.

According to The Athletic, the German side are interested in signing Jarell Quansah.

Leverkusen will have vast funds to rebuild their squad over the coming months following some major departures, which also included head coach Xabi Alonso moving to Real Madrid.

Quansah could replace Jonathan Tah, who is close to joining Bayern Munich.

Man Utd receive 'serious' enquiry

Inter Milan have reportedly made a 'serious' enquiry over signing Man Utd forward Rasmus Hojlund.

According to the Independent, United will sell a forward if they sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon this summer.

Hojlund endured a tough season, scoring only 10 goals, and is reported to be 'frustrated' with his performances.

The report claims that he is intrigued by a return to Italy, two years after joining United from Atalanta.

Florian Wirtz latest

Liverpool are said to have finally struck a broad agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Florian Wirtz.

A deal was believed to have been close, but the specific transfer fee remained a small hitch.

Wide-ranging reports claim that the Reds will pay up to £127m for the attacking midfielder, including additional bonuses and clauses.

Liverpool seem set to finally get their man...

Arsenal launch Viktor Gyokeres offer

Arsenal are reportedly preparing to launch a formal offer for Viktor Gyokeres.

Club officials are said to have met with the forward's agent last night in an attempt to accelerate a move.

It came during a turbulent day for the Swede, who was told in no uncertain terms by Sporting Lisbon that he would not be sold for a reported 'gentleman's agreement' of £59m.

Gyokeres has been widely linked with the Premier League, with Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea said to be interested. But the Gunners now seem to be at the front of the queue.

CNN Portugal claims that Arsenal are now set to make an offer after speaking with Gyokeres' agent.

The player is keen to join the north Londoners.

Man Utd face hijack

Man Utd's move for Bryan Mbeumo could face a late twist, according to reports.

The Red Devils appeared to be in the driving seat for the Brentford forward.

However, Thomas Frank's move from Brentford to Tottenham could present a potential hitch. The Danish boss is keen to reunite with Mbeumo across London, according to the Mirror.

United had planned to sign Mbeumo after completing a move for Wolves star Matheus Cunha.

Spurs are also desperate for reinforcements after a dismal season that ended in the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.
