El exfutbolista José Rodrigues Neto, exlateral izquierdo de la selección brasileña y uno de los máximos ídolos del Flamengo, falleció este lunes a los 69 años de edad como consecuencia de una trombosis, informaron sus antiguos clubes.
n su cuenta de la red social Twitter, el Flamengo publicó que "con inmenso pesar" informaba del fallecimiento de Rodrigues Neto, "uno de los mayores jugadores en la historia" del club, al que defendió en 439 partidos entre 1967 y 1975 y con el que conquistó los títulos del torneo regional de Río de Janeiro en 1972 y 1974.
Elogios por todos lados
Por su parte, el Fluminense, histórico rival del Flamengo, "lamentó" la muerte del exfutbolista, que en 1976 "jugó en la 'Máquina Tricolor'" y ganó el torneo regional de Río de Janeiro y los internacionales de Viña del Mar, en Chile, y París.
Rodrigues Neto, que nació en 1949 en la ciudad de Galileia (Minas Gerais, sudeste), falleció en el hospital Bomsucesso de Río de Janeiro, donde había ingresado en los últimos días por causa de una trombosis provocada por la diabetes.
Historia con la selección de Brasil
En 1978, cuando defendía al Botafogo, también de Río de Janeiro, Rodrigues Neto fue convocado para defender a la selección brasileña que disputó el Mundial de Argentina, país en el que se quedó hasta 1981 para actuar con el club porteño Ferrocarril Oeste.
Retornó a Brasil en 1981 contratado por el Internacional de Porto Alegre y un año después alistó maletas de nuevo para Argentina, donde vistió la camiseta del Boca Juniors en once partidos.
Entre 1983 y 1985, Rodrigues Neto pasó por el modesto Sao Cristovao de Río de Janeiro y por los clubes South China y Eastern SC, ambos de la poco expresiva liga de Hong Kong, en donde se despidió del fútbol activo.
