Inter Milan fans and Paris Saint-Germain supporters clashed on an underground train ahead of Saturday night's Champions League final. Tensions boiled over on the Munich metro system in the hours leading up to the showdown, with punches and kicks exchanged between the two groups in an unsavoury scene.
Footage circulating on social media appears to show a group of Nerazzurri ultras attempting to fight their way through the open door of a train carriage full of PSG fans. Flagsticks were wielded as weapons and objects were thrown through the door as the group of Parisians attempted to fend them off.
One Inter fan took a kick to the face moments before a glass bottle was launched into the train, and there were angry screams and shouts throughout the scuffle.
According to French newspaper L'Equipe, some of those wearing Inter jerseys were 'described as carrying bladed weapons'. One PSG supporter is believed to have been injured in the ambush, which was broken up when authorities stormed the scene and dispersed the crowd using tear gas.
There will be a lot at stake when the two teams do battle at the Allianz Arena. PSG are aiming to win their first-ever Champions League title, having lost out to Bayern Munich by a one-goal margin five years ago.
Winning European football's top prize has long been the main objective of PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who initially set the club a target to win it by 2015, then pushed it back to 2018, and then to 2022.

The Nerazzurri have won the Champions League three times before, and they will be desperate to avoid a repeat of the 2023 final, which they lost to treble-winners Manchester City.

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi oversaw a 7-6 aggregate win over Barcelona in the semi-finals. And while his emotions were put to the test over those two ties, he expects more 'suffering' in the final.
"We need to face Paris knowing there will be moments in which we'll suffer, and other moments when we'll have the ball and they'll need to defend," he said. "Details and moments are key.
