Ruben Amorim has offered to forgo any copensation he would be owed if Manchester United bosses decide to sack him this summer. The Red Devils lost the Europa League final 1-0 against Tottenham on Wednesday night.
A trophyless season, coupled with United's 16th-place in the Premier League table, has left huge question marks hanging over Amorim's future. And the 40-year-old does not want to do the club any damage if his superiors want him gone.
"If the board and fans decide I'm not the right guy I will leave without any compensation," Amorim said. "But I will not quit."
Initially, the United boss was reluctant to speak about his future. He explained: "I'm not going to talk about the future. We have to face the pain of losing this match.
"It was obvious that we were the better team, but we didn't manage to score. The players did everything to win the match. Then we'll have time to evaluate everything."
United dominated possession but created very few chances on a frustrating night in Bilbao.
Amorim's team selection came under scrutiny because he selected Mason Mount instead of Alejandro Garnacho. But the United boss defended his decision, explaining: "It's easy to say that. Mount changed the game against Athletic. Who missed the big chance in the first half? Garnacho.

"We were better than the opponent. I think I am always honest with you guys. I have said when days have been really poor. I think today was not the day.
"Was clear we were the better team, then we manage not to score again. The guys try everything to win the game."
United's summer transfer plans will be seriously impacted by the lack of Champions League football next season, which would have been guaranteed if they won the cup.
"We have two plans, even for the market," Amorim said. "We have to understand that it is tough for a club like us not to be in the Champions League but now we have to do the other side. If we have more time, we have more time to think and work during the week and to be better in the Premier League. This will be our focus."

HE TOLD us so. Big Ange Postecoglou told us that he always wins a trophy in his second season.
