Michael Wimmer says he is delighted with how Motherwell have ended the season after wrapping up their William Hill Premiership campaign with a 1-1 draw at Ross County.
The Steelmen trailed to a Ronan Hale goal on the half-hour mark but improved drastically in the second half and dominated the game in Dingwall.
That pressure eventually told, with Moses Ebiye heading in an equaliser with seven minutes remaining to ensure the season did not end in defeat.
The point adds to three victories Motherwell had already recorded in the split and Wimmer was pleased with how things seemed to click at Fir Park in the closing weeks.
He said: “I’m happy, the lads have done well.
“After the 0-0 draw with Hearts, we talked about creating more chances and being more dominant in the games and five weeks later we have dominated the last three or four games.
“That is really good, and you see the boys are more used to how I want to play.
“We are filling the spaces, having good timing and getting players into the box, so I’m really happy.
“There were so many fans here for an away game too, which is fantastic.
“They pushed us to the limit, and right to the end, so I was very happy to get the equaliser for them after a long journey.”
Ross County manager Don Cowie, on the other hand, saw a disastrous run of form to end the season consign the Staggies to a third successive relegation play-off.
The 10-cap Scotland international was pleased with 11th-placed County’s first-half performance against Motherwell but admits they have paid for months of poor results.
“We find ourselves in the play-offs not because of today,” Cowie said.
“It was on the previous two months of results that haven’t been good enough.
“The disappointing thing from today was that I thought the first half was as good as we’ve been. We were good on Wednesday night, but today was the next level.
“We got the goal we deserved through Ronan, which was a real positive, but in the second half we didn’t do enough to win the game of football and we were probably a bit fortunate to come away with a draw in the end.”
