An Italian amateur team have been gifted a ‘lifetime subscription’ to an X-rated website to celebrate securing promotion.
Sicily outfit Athletic Palermo have been playing amateur level for years but the club and their fans are revelling in a promotion to Serie D. While not considered a professional league, Serie D is the highest semi-professional division in Italy.
The team secured their spot in the fourth tier for next season after victory over rivals Partinicaudace. Players have been lapping up the moment, but they have now received a gift from their sponsors to mark the occasion.
Athletic Palermo are sponsored by an escort website called Escort Advisor. And the adult company have made a bizarre gift to the club’s stars.
CEO Mike Morra declared the present in a congratulatory message. He said: “We wanted to mark this achievement with a practical gift. Now the players and coaches can finally relax… with a little extra bonus.”

The players received the gift on the pitch in front of their fans and posed with a novelty banner given to them by the company.
The Premium Membership is said to allow unlimited access to all content and profiles published on the site. It’s added the gift was met by laughter and happiness from the players. "This surprise at the end of the match took us by surprise," said captain David Valenca. "Another smile in a great year that we will remember forever."
Club President Gaetano Conte said: "Seeing the players' amused and surprised faces for this gift was another unforgettable moment of this season.
"Since 2016 I have dreamed of bringing this club to Serie D and we have finally achieved our goal."
While sporting director Giampiero Clemente added: “Over time, a winning partnership has been built with Escort Advisor, who believed in us since last championship. This gift surprised everyone and shows how close the sponsor really is to the team.”
