Steven Gerrard shows true colours in sweary clips about former club on night out
{by} Dailystar.co.uk

Steven Gerrard has set Rangers fans' hearts racing by professing his "f****** love" for the club in a chaotic video clip.

The Liverpool legend, who left his role as manager of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq earlier this year and is currently without a club, has reignited rumours of a potential return to the Ibrox dugout. The 44-year-old led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in 2021.

With the takeover of Rangers by 49ers Enterprises nearing completion, the Scottish giants' fans are hoping Gerrard might be exactly the kind of high-profile managerial appointment required to get the club back to the top.

And he didn't hold back in stating his affection for the Gers in two videos widely shared on social media. In one clip, when asked by a Celtic fan to record a message for another supporter, a seemingly worse for wear Gerrard responded with a cheeky retort.

The England icon said: "Listen Debbie, this f****** mushroom is a Celtic fan. We f****** love Rangers. F*** Debbie I love Rangers."

In another recording, Gerrard took it up a notch, bellowing: "Up the Teddy Bears!" That came as he wss captured on camera by a fan trying to belt out "You'll Never Walk Alone", the Liverpool and also Celtic anthem, reports the Daily Record.

Rangers fans took to X to laud the clips and call for Gerrard to take the helm at Ibrox again. One said: "Bring him home." A second said: "Lifetime contract, let's go."

A third said: "Had my doubts about Gerrard, but he's my choice now." A fourth commented: "Yes Stevie G knows how to win championships as a manager, we miss him."

And another supporter added: "Think I love him more than my wife."

One of the greatest players in Premier League history, Gerrard cut his managerial teeth with Liverpool youth teams after hanging up his boots before moving north of the border.

He won the Scottish Premiership by completing an unbeaten season and in doing so thwarting Celtic's bid for a 10th consecutive title.

However, he moved to Aston Villa just six month later, in an ill-fated move that saw the Champions League winning ex-midfielder sacked by the Midlanders and replaced by Unai Emery.

His unsuccessful stint in the Saudi Pro League came to an end in January with Al-Ettifaq struggling down in 12th in the 18-team league.

Despite extending his contract until 2027 only last year, Gerrard left by mutual consent, having initially taken the job in 2023.

Gerrard remains a favourite among bookmakers for a second spell as Rangers manager and with 49 Enterprises - who also own Leeds United - close to completing their acquisition of the club, a marquee managerial appointment could follow.

The Americans hope to have a deal wrapped up by June in order to minimise any disruption to the start of the next campaign.
