Bromley manager Andy Woodman believes his side have laid the foundations for the club’s future in their first season in the EFL.
The Ravens ended their League Two campaign with a 3-0 win over Cheltenham to secure an 11th-placed finish.
League Two player of the year Michael Cheek scored two more goals to take his tally to 25 while Nicke Kabamba also netted in a comfortable home victory.
And Woodman said: “I’m really proud of my squad of players and the characters we have.
“They gave me everything this season and have laid a foundation for us to build from for next season.
“We got to 66 points and I set a target of 71. We just fell short of a haul that would have got us in the play-offs so we weren’t far off of really being in amongst it.”
And after having a taste of life in the EFL, Woodman is determined to lead Bromley to bigger and better things next season.
“The work doesn’t stop for me,” he added. “I’ll take some time off to be with my family now but my phone stays on.
“I think people really know now who Bromley FC are and what we’re all about.
“We are grateful to the loanees like Danny Imray and Cameron Congreve who have been brilliant for us but we’ll bring more like them to the club next season because people know we improve players at this club.”
Cheltenham’s defeat was their first in their last five games as they finished 15th.
And manager Mike Flynn is confident he knows where he can find improvement as he reflected on the campaign.
He said: “We’ve had to patch up a team today and we asked a lot of players to play in unfamiliar positions.
“But ultimately, we got done by three set plays and it wasn’t a 3-0 game.
“We know we need to improve defensively next season, and we will look to do that.
“We gave away at least 15 points this season and when you look back that would have been enough for the play-offs.
“All that said the players didn’t throw the towel in, they showed good effort, and I saw a lot of positives.
“We knew this season we had to stabilise at this level and try and punch above our weight and I think we’ve done that relatively well.
“We’ve had some outstanding moments and we will look to build on those next season.”
