El River Plate argentino logró este miércoles la clasificación para los octavos de final de la Copa Libertadores al vencer por 0-2 al Palestino chileno, que quedó eliminado en el grupo A.
Javier Pinola e Ignacio Fernández marcaron los goles del actual campeón del torneo, que fue superior a un rival de menos pedigrí y que necesitaba sumar al menos un punto para seguir con vida.
La primera media hora de juego fue igualada y trabada, sin ocasiones de gol en ningún lado, pero todo cambió con el tanto del conjunto argentino.
Hasta que llegaron los goles
Ignacio Fernández colgó un centro al área y Javier Pinola se zambulló en el área de gol y remató muy cómodo de cabeza al segundo palo para batir a Ignacio González.
El Palestino sintió el golpe y su rival pasó a dominar el ritmo del partido y a llegar con más peligro. Antes del descanso el River Plate podría haber marcado el segundo con sendas oportunidades del colombiano Rafael Santos Borré y Lucas Martínez Quarta.
Después del descanso, los chilenos subieron las líneas y apretaron en busca del empate, especialmente a través de un voluntarioso Luis Jiménez.
Pero el mazazo final llegó en el minuto 63 con el segundo gol del River Plate después de un error en la salida del arquero, que dejó en bandeja el gol a Ignacio Fernández.
El tanto provocó desolación en el Palestino, que unos minutos después se quedó con un jugador menos por la expulsión de Julián Fernández, que vio la roja por una entrada durísima a Enzo Pérez.
Sin embargo, River también culminó el encuentro con diez por la expulsión con roja directa del colombiano Borré a dos minutos del final.
