Birmingham boss Chris Davies says the Blues should be very proud of breaking the 100-point barrier.
Alex Cochrane’s winner after 75 minutes was hit from 30 yards and was perfectly-placed to find the corner and hand City a 1-0 win at Stevenage.
And it takes them onto 102 points with three games remaining.
“I’m very proud,” said the Birmingham boss. “Not many teams will get more than 100 points in a season and I thought it was a good message to send out.
“I spoke to the players to stress we don’t want to jog over this finish line, we want to sprint over it.
“Every game this season has been competitive. We’ve had a lot of narrow wins and it felt like that again.
“First half we weren’t at our best and we wanted to draw a line under that. They surprised us with their formation actually but we got to grips with the game quickly in the second half. We moved the ball up the pitch well and had good opportunities around the box.
“And then a moment of quality to win it.”
And he heaped praise on the scorer too.
“He’s been an immense player for us and doesn’t get enough credit,” said Davies.
“He’s one of those guys, a humble lad who just does his work with no frills, but he took it really well actually.
“It was a bouncing ball but he kept his eye on it and it was the accuracy that beat the keeper.
“I’m pleased for Alex because it’s his first goal and it fully deserved to win us the match.”
And while beaten, there was plenty for Stevenage boss Alex Revell to be happy with.
He said: “It’s a tough one because we played a different shape to see what a back three looked like.
“We wanted to be aggressive and it was difficult because they keep the ball very well, that’s what they do and why they are where they are. They’ve got really good players.
“But we made it our game and I don’t think Taye [Ashby-Hammond] has really had a save to make.
“We wanted to take it into the final minutes and for it to be 0-0 so we could really put it on them.
“But the one thing I will say is the lads put a lot of effort in [at Bristol Rovers] on Monday and we changed it to bring freshness in.
“And they worked incredibly hard for the team and for everyone, they really did and I’m really proud of them because we’ve made them have to work.”
