Chesterfield assistant Danny Webb was delighted to see his side keep their play-off hopes alive after coming back from 3-1 down against Bradford to draw 3-3.
Goals from Bobby Pointon, Antoni Sarcevic and Alex Pattison put the visitors in control but Jenson Metcalfe and Will Grigg struck to give Chesterfield hope before Liam Mandeville’s leveller in added time.
Webb said: “Yet another one for the memory bank. I think if we played for another five minutes, we would have won the game. Fair play to the players, they kept the dream alive.
“We’ve just got to make sure we definitely win our next two games, because we certainly made these last week or two weeks of the season potentially very exciting.
“We started poorly and looked a bit shaky. We were allowing runners to run through. Our back line was a bit too deep, then it was too high, and it just took us a bit of time to get into the game.
“Deep down you’re thinking it’s going to take a hell of a turnaround but when you get that second goal and then ‘Mandy’s’ in the box, you think, come on, a little deflection, please go in, it goes in, you actually feel like we’re going to win the game.
“We might have dropped a place, but three points behind them with two to go, it’s still on.”
Bradford boss Graham Alexander was left to rue two points dropped after surrendering a two-goal lead.
Alexander said: “We’ve dropped two points today because we were super for large parts of that. Unfortunately, we’ve lost some players in the second half due to illness.
“I think it’s allowed Chesterfield then to get a period of, when they’re in, maybe control. But for large parts we controlled that game.
“We were superb. We should have scored more, without a doubt. I think we have to look at, not just the goals we concede, but actually how we could have extended the lead throughout that game because we had brilliant chances. Unfortunately, they’ve scored at such a killer time for us.
“We’re disappointed because of the timing of the goals and the nature of the goals, and obviously the position we’re in and the stage of the season, because we’ve had great opportunities to really cement our position.
“But, you know, fate’s kicking us in the whatsits at the minute, but we’re still in a great position to take what we feel we should achieve with what we’ve done this season. But we have to finish the job off and we should have finished the job off today.”
