WHAT HAPPENED?
When Solskjaer was removed as United manager in 2021, the club were struggling in the seventh position in the Premier League. In the last three and a half years, the Red Devils saw two full-time coaches and a series of interim bosses in charge, however, the club's performance has only gone downhill as they currently find themselves in 14th place in the league.
WHAT TEDDY SHERINGHAM'S SAID
Former United striker Sheringham felt that Solskjaer would return to Old Trafford in the near future as he claimed that the club's performance has not at all improved under current head coach Ruben Amorim. Speaking to Casino Hawks, Sheringham said: "Ole Gunnar Solskjaer thought he was harshly treated when he got the sack and now Manchester United are still looking at the solution to get back to winning ways.
"He thought he was bringing that back, but the hierarchy didn't think so. Looking at where they are now, the situation that Ole and his team are in doesn't look so bad. Looking forward, I'm sure he'll be champing at the bit if he keeps doing well to maybe come back to the club for a second spell as manager."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The United icon added: "Has Ruben Amorim done enough to prove he is the right man for the job? Well, not really. You're looking for signs to say, yeah, things are looking up, but it's really not. Things are not looking great. It's the same mistakes and the same people making mistakes, the goalkeepers constantly as fault.
"I know it sounds dinosaurish, but why is there all this playing out from the back? In areas where you are only going to increase pressure on yourself, that's what I cannot understand."
