Ex-Liverpool star questions secrecy around Trent's transfer to Madrid

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has questioned the club's stance on maintaining secrecy over Trent Alexander-Arnold's future.

Speaking to PokerScout, Hamann said: "If Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to leave Liverpool, I don't know why he and the club haven't come out to explain the situation. I'd be very surprised if he hadn't made his mind up by now. I think that because he could get another injury, which rules him out for the season, and that will impact contract talks with both Liverpool and Real Madrid. I don't think there is any reason to keep his plans a secret. He looks the most likely to go, and you might only get a chance to join Real Madrid once in your career, so I don't think you can blame him. Real Madrid like to have the ball, and I think Trent Alexander-Arnold fits into any team, lots has been made of his defensive deficiencies, but his passing range is incredible, and that would suit their forwards perfectly. He gives you so much going forward so."

Arsenal urged to sign Sane on special contract

Former Premier League star Dietmar Hamann has urged Arsenal to sign Leroy Sane on a special contract after he becomes a free agent this summer.

Speaking to PokerScout, Hamann said: "Leroy Sane's consistency has been a problem with Bayern Munich. This is why he probably won't get offered a new contract. However, I think if you give him a performance-based contract, you'd have a brilliant player on your hands. That's what I would do. I heard that Arsenal are interested, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. I think he's a good kid. I think some people read too much into body language, If you look at Lionel Messi's body language, you think he's a non-league player. So I don't give too much thought to that. I think he's a good kid. The fact is he's not been consistent enough, but that doesn't mean he won't be for Arsenal next season."

Will De Bruyne head back to Wolfsburg?

Kevin De Bruyne's former club Wolfsburg has sent out a cheeky invitation to the player on social media and urged the veteran star to return to the Bundesliga and rejoin them. The 33-year-old spent one-and-a-half seasons at Wolfsburg, where he won the DFB Pokal and DFL-Supercup titles.

Liverpool identify Araujo as Van Dijk's replacement

De Jong set for remarkable U-turn after endless exit rumours

Frenkie de Jong has a contract until 2026 and has said he would be willing to leave if he felt he was not contributing effectively for the club. He has been linked with Manchester United in the past, and Saudi Arabian clubs are also said to have expressed an interest. Nevertheless, it now appears that Barca sporting director Deco is willing to open talks over a new deal, per Relevo.

Robertson issues update on Alexander-Arnold's future

Andrew Robertson admits that Trent Alexander-Arnold's head is "not great" but he insists it is nothing to do with his potential move to Real Madrid.

Speaking to reporters, Robertson said: "Trent's head is not great because he's injured. He hates being injured - none of us like being injured, but it hurts Trent a little bit more. That's all he is focused on. It is impossible for me to say we have not seen all the noise and everyone commenting on it. But for us, our focus is for him to get back fit and healthy. Once he does that, what will happen will happen. No one knows that yet. People can talk and speculate, but for us, we want Trent back very soon."

Gyokeres' transfer stance revealed

According to Correio da Manha, Viktor Gyokeres has 'already given a yes' to the new Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta and wants to head to the Emirates. The report adds that Berta has played a 'decisive role' in convincing the ex-Coventry City man to move to the Gunners.

Huijsen warned off making blockbuster move to Real Madrid

Bournemouth and Spain centre-back Dean Huijsen has been warned against making a huge summer move to Real Madrid by his former coach, Juan Gutierrez.

Speaking to The Sun, Gutierrez said: "Dean is going to be a leader no matter where he goes, so I hope whoever signs him they play him as a starter, and he's not a project for the future. He is a player for now. There are very few like that at his age, which is why I don't know to what extent it would be a good option to sign for Real. No one can guarantee you'll play because of your pretty face but if he leaves Bournemouth, it shouldn't be to sit on the bench. At Madrid, Eder Militao is 27 and Antonio [Rudiger]. Those two are untouchable and a recovered David Alaba would also be ahead of him. Carlo Ancelotti is an incredible manager but not a coach for young players — so Dean would be fourth-choice centre-back. That's the reality. Barcelona is the opposite. They're not afraid to use players from the academy but at Real the problem is the mentality of the club. Dean has to go to a place with a vision for the future, with guarantees he'll play. "But maybe staying at Bournemouth with Andoni Iraola for another year is the best option."

The 21-year-old talent has experienced limited minutes on the pitch this season, prompting speculation around a potential exit during the upcoming transfer window.
